First Defensive Pick?
We've all been hearing about Bush, Young, and Leinart for months now. That's just fine, but theres a lot of really good defensive players who have declared this year as well. Who do you all think the first pick from the other side of the ball will be, and what team do you think will get him?
For me, I'm thinking Mario Williams to the Jets. That's my opinion though.

I could see that but I'm not sure if they would pass on Debrickshaw if he's there, if not then yes the first deffensive player will be taken IMO either Hawk or Williams depending on their board.

Me personally I think AJ Hawk is going to the Packers, also he will be first off the board. They need a LB not another DE and they are ok with KGB and Kampman.
Which will hopefully mean my niners can grab Williams with pick 6 or 7.

Kampman is also going to be FA though.. We'll see what happens, it could go either way for us.

Yeah, and they'll need him if they can't keep Peterson.

Kampman is a FA and even if they bring him back they could use the depth. Williams is sort of along the lines of Bush at DE IMO
Peterson from what I'm hearing is not going to be tagged BTW.
**EDIT: Sorry that was supposed to be "not going to be tagged"**

peterson is not going to be tagged
From Fanball.com
02/22 08:07 49ers: Team won't use franchise tag on Peterson
THE NEWS
Coach Mike Nolan indicated Tuesday that the 49ers won't use the franchise tag on linebacker Julian Peterson or any of their other pending free agents, reports the San Jose Mercury News. "Our philosophy is no one player is bigger than the team,' Nolan said. "That's not just from a disciplinarian standpoint but from a cap standpoint as well.'
Our View
Our philosophy is your team sucks and there's no way you should let Julian Peterson, who may we remind is one of your best defensive players, walk. Someone should tell Nolan that he won only four games last year, and by the time he gets the team turned around – if he ever gets the team turned around – he'll probably no longer have a job with the organization.
**edit** Just posted the link to avoid any further confusion

If thats the niners philosophy lets take a look at a few facts:
1. Seems your team chokes in the big game every time you get to it. Oh I forgot you have a hard time getting to it but when you get there you choke anyway
2. He was offered a huge contract that compared very well to All-Pro's like Ray Lewis (which he is not) and his agents the PUTZ ONS turned down
3. Your going to pay a LB 9+ million for 1 yr, ya that's real smart
4. Last time I checked we have 5 Super Bowl rings, how many does your organization have? Better yet how many SB losses does Philly have?
Post that facts man, not rubbish.

I copied and pasted that directly from fanball, It was not my view
I thought this forum had informed and intelligent posters, nope, just like the rest.
I was just posting the facts. I did not speculate at all. fanball did. Don't get your panties in a bunch
