Former Louisville RB Bush has leg surgery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Former Louisville running back Michael Bush underwent surgery Tuesday on the leg he broke during the first game of last season.

Bush, who entered the upcoming NFL draft as a junior, had a new rod inserted and was expected to be released from a Louisville hospital on Wednesday, spokesman Rocco Gasparro said.

Gasparro said Bush sought another medical opinion when his bone didn't heal quickly enough. He's expected to be out another couple of months and won't be able to work out Monday during Louisville's pro day, Gasparro said.

Bush decided to skip his senior season, despite playing in only one game as a junior. In his sophomore year, Bush ran for 1,183 yards and an NCAA-leading 23 touchdowns.

He scored three touchdowns in the first half of the season-opener against Kentucky last year before breaking his leg early in the second half.

The Cardinals went on to finish 12-1, beating Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl.

Perfect later round pick for the Niners... just because we love our broken down RBs. Fwank will show him the ropes.

no way, you guys have Gore and Robinson you aren't going to be looking for a RB you guys have too many holes to wast a pick on a runningback.

I'm thinking that the third round will be his max position and most like 4th round.

Whoever takes him that late will be getting a first round caliber running back though. That kid can flat out play ball.

Eh... We don't have too many holes any more. That can't really be said about the Niners now.

And we have like 5 or 6 picks in rounds 3 and 4 (depending on compensatory picks), so they could easily take a guy like this if he dropped that far as a backup/developmental player.

If the Ravens can nab him in the 4th I think that's a spectacular pick for them.

Yeah, you can never have too many good players. Its not like I'll be campaigning to get him, just saying I wouldn't necessarily mind based on his potential.

Obviously I'm in the minority here but I don't know what everyone sees in the guy. Too slow to play NFL ball and now with injury problems.. gonna be another Ron Dayne but without the college success.
