Believe it or not, if he truly dedicates himself to rehabilitation it is possible that he could come back just as fast if not faster. I actually had a teammate at the University of Utah, Steve Savoy WR, that tore his ACL during the summer in 7 on 7 drills, he took the entire season to rehab and he came back and ran the 40 in the 4.5's. Prior to the surgery and rehab he was a mid 4.6 guy. So it is very possible. I personally think that he is worth the risk, i.e. Willis McGahee

I wish it were as simple (I know it sounds weird) as an ACL. That's why teams are dropping him on their boards so much as opposed to other RB's who've had torn ligaments, instead of a break that severe. An even worse case is Tyrone Prothero, that WR out of 'Bama. It's been 2 years and he's still not ready if I remember correctly. Lower leg breaks nowadays, as opposed to 30 years ago, are generally worse than ACL's because the technology's gotten so much better with ligament damage. There's still not much you can do when your shin gets shattered that's different then it was 15 or 20 years ago.
Look at it this way: Michael Bush, in effect, has not used any muscles in his right leg for 7 months. It's going to be a few months longer before he'll be able to. The risk is that his calf, achilles tendon, and possibly even his upper leg muscles, might never be flexible enough for him to be as explosive as he was before. The first thing he'll need to do is relearn to walk, and then walk without a limp. As a bigger guy anyways, he's going to need to get that leg even stronger than if, say, a Lorenzo Booker were going through this.
That said, I really want him to get drafted to a team that has a good medical staff and conditioning program, and the patience to not rush him back before he's ready for his career and for his family. Bush and Prothero are both guys I want to see back and successful...but I wanted to be realistic in letting you guys out there who think it's a slam dunk know that what he's going through is less of a sure thing than coming back from an ACL and why.
