Smith is not a seven step drop Qb, yet thats what they set their system up for
I say fire Nolan, and make a run at McDainiels(Patriots) or Garrett(Cowboy's)as the HC Either one of those would turn him around. I'm wary of Garrett as a HC right now tho, he only has 3 years of expirience, and this is his first year as a playcaller

Yes we wish you still had Turner as well! What QB's will be available for free agency that would actually "push" Smith? Oh and fit in their offensive scheme.

Rex Grossman
Yep, thats it. Rex Grossman. Needless to say FA isnt gonna give you a solution.
Personally I dont see why you draft a guy #1, with the huge $$$$ that goes with it, start to implement a system around him, and then change it
Honestly, if Turner gets fired, they should do whatever it takes to bring him back

I think even if SD runs the table, Norv will be out.
He was a panic hire IMO, their werent many good candidates at that stage.
I remember when he was a Dallas candidate, SF wasnt too happy. I could see them bringing him back

both will slip.. Booty more-so then Ainge
I dont even see Booty as a 1st day QB, anyway you dont draft a QB late
Derek Anderson and McNabb are FAs this year

Derek is an RFA tho, so it will probobly cost a 1st and 3rd
I dont think McNabb is a FA, but he may be on the trade block

Smith definitely needs someone to push him. But the offense in general is pretty terrible. I think they should draft a WR this year, if they can get their hands on a good one. I know it's not a great year for them, but the team could kinda use a good one. As for QB, if they don't find anything good in free agency, they could draft one in the second or third round. He could compete for the job with Smith, but at the same time they won't spend first round $$$ on him. He could be Matt Schaub, or he could be Charlie Frye, but at least it'll be something. Marc Bulger was drafted in the sixth round.

One big thing about Smith is the fact that he's had a different O-Coord. for each year he's been there which certainly takes its toll.
I think Rich Hill has been stellar for not really practicing or playing. I don't care if he is playing the Bengals I saw Brock Berlin the week before not do much at all. Hill had signs of being a starter and played like a kid out there like someone else I know (not that there is a comparison guys). If he fits that system well, the players love him, the o-coord. does too its backup time for Smith or they will draft in 2nd and or 3rd like Ainge or maybe even Flacco who are both like 6'5" to try and coax through for the next few years and move Alex.
It will be interesting to say the least.

Welcome to the new, (improved?) version of the NFL fan. Young, angry, impatient. No real understanding of the development of a player, hungry for wins now, not really a fan of a team, just a fan of winners.

I'm not just saying this because I'm a Bears fan. I'm saying it because I'm a Grossman fan. When he had a chance, he did well. He's a gunslinger, and that's his biggest strength/weakness. Coupled with a strong running game, Grossman can put up obnoxious numbers. But he need and OC who can recognize what he can/cannot do.
That being said, I still think Smith can get something done. They didn't look bad to start the season... they just got bit by the same injury bug as the Bears...

How are they going to draft a good quarterback when New England has their pick?
