treloc is a jewel in the roughtreloc is a jewel in the roughtreloc is a jewel in the rough
Default Mock Draft 2.0

1) Miami Dolphins
Chris Long -- DE Virgina
A Classic 3-4 DE. He impressed during the combine. And even with Taylor staying they don't have a DE/DT who will be a better fit at DE in Parcell's 34 defense.

2) St. Louis Rams
Jake Long -- OT Michigan
Its simple with the Rams. They want to win with offense and the types of routes their WRs run need time to develop. Orlando Pace isn't what he once was and even if he can squeeze a year or two out of his deflating tank Long can dominate at RT until its time to take over at LT.

3)Atlanta Falcons
Glenn Dorsey -- DT LSU
First I don't think Matt Ryan is a top 5 type player and if you are drafting in the top 5 you have more than one need so you don't reach for anyone. Now after releasing Rod Coleman they don't have anyone who will dominate upfront and the new HC is from Jacksonville where they consistently dominated with their front four.

4)Oakland Raiders
Darren McFadden -- RB Arkansas
They have spent the last couple offseasons looking for a RB who is capable of taking over games. Neither Lamont Jordan nor Dominic Rhodes has worked out and with Russell set to take over at QB they need a running game that will take the pressure off of their franchise QB.

5)Kansas City Chiefs
Sedrick Ellis -- DT USC
Many people have them reaching for an OT but they have to many needs with superior players on the board to fill those needs. Reaching for an OT who isn't a difference maker in the top 5 will set them back instead of helping them move forward. They need to add talent to a defense that hasn't looked good since they drafted Ryan Sims.

6)New York Jets
Leodis McKelvin -- CB Troy
With all the talk of them going after Samuel it is no secret they want to upgrade the CB position. And McKelvin is the top CB on the board. And with the addition of Pace I don't think they will be looking to take Gholsten.

7)New England Patriots
Vernon Gholsten -- DE Ohio State
He would be converted to a pass rushing OLB in the Patriots 34 defense. With the release of Colvin they need a replacement at OLB and even before his release they needed a youth movement at LBer.

8)Baltimore Ravens
Matt Ryan -- QB Boston College
Its simple they don't have confidence in any of the QBs currently on their roster. Their aren't any "elite" QB prospects which is why the first QB doesn't come of the board until the 8th pick.

9)Cincinnati Bengals
Phillip Merling -- DE Clemson
With the departure of Justin Smith they need to add a playmaker at DE. Merling has the talent of a Gaines Adams which makes this a steal at number 9.

10)New Orleans Saints
Keith Rivers -- LB USC
The Saints have aggressively gone after players to upgrade their defense this offseason. I think they continue that trend and take the top defender left on the board. It comes down to Rivers or Mike Jenkins and I think Rivers versatility puts him over the top.

11)Buffalo Bills
Limas Sweed -- WR Texas
They need a WR who can be dangerous running routes in the middle of the field and even though he didn't blaze in the 40 he was fast enough to make him the top WR of most draft boards.

12)Denver Broncos
Ryan Clady -- OT Boise St.
Their offense begins and ends at the offensive line. With the retirement of Lepsis it is vital to find an adequate replacement.

13)Carolina Panthers
Brian Brohm -- QB Louisville
It got so bad last year that they brought back Vinny T. At this point they have to know Delhomme won't be the long term answer either.

14)Chicago Bears
Rashard Mendenhall -- RB Illinois
They need upgrades at QB, RB, WR, and OT so they take the highest rated player at those four positions.

15)Detroit Lions
Mike Jenkins -- CB South Flordia
With the release of Fernando Bryant its the second year in a row they've lost one of their top players at CB. With Jenkins falling they shouldn't waste time picking him up.

16)Arizona Cardinals
Derrick Harvey -- DE Flordia
They need to continue to upgrade their defense through the draft. With players like Dansby, Dockett, and Watson they need to at a pass rushing specialist at DE.

17)Minnesota Vikings
Malcom Kelly -- WR Oklahoma
They will face 8 man fronts all year with teams saying they'll take their chance of having T. Jackson beating them before A. Peterson which means they need to add WRs who can help spread the field. They will have to open holes for Peterson with three and four WR sets.

18)Houston Texans
Jeff Otah -- Pitt
It seems like every year everyone predicts the Texans will take a OT and every year we a wrong. Hey the odds say at some point we are going to be right about this.

19)Philadelphia Eagles
Devin Thomas -- WR Michigan St.
The only time they made it to the Super Bowl T.O. was on the team. McNabb isn't the player he once was. He can no longer bring the team where it needs to go without help.

20)Tampa Bay Buccaneers
DeSean Jackson -- WR California
Joey Galloway has been their only consistent performer at WR for years. And each year he gets a year older at some point he isn't going to be able to do it anymore and what happens then.

21)Washington Redskins
Kentawn Balmer -- DT North Carolina
They need to make improvements to their defense. They have a pass rusher in Andre Carter but they need a player on the D-Line who's only purpose is to stop the run and Balmer can fill that void nicely.

22)Dallas Cowboys
Gosder Cherilus -- OT BC
He is the type of big road grading lineman the Cowboys are known for. Adams isn't getting any younger and at some point they are going to have to replace him.

23)Pittsburgh Steelers
James Hardy -- WR Indiana
You don't think after paying him a 102 million they are going to ignore his wishes for a "taller" WR.

24)Tennessee Titans
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Pacman won't be back and they don't have a single CB who would rank in the top 20 if you ranked CBs currently in the NFL.

25)Seattle Seahawks
Branden Albert -- OG Virgina
Their offense hasn't been the same since Hutchinson left for Minnesota. They need to re-create the dominate O-Line that was in place when Alexander won the MVP.-- Side note they need to stop calling it the MVP they should just call it the QB/RB with the best stats.

26)Jacksonville Jaguars
Pat Sims -- DT Auburn
Their D-Line and O-Line are the reasons for their success. I hope they realize that and try to replace Stroud with a "Player"

27)San Diego Chargers
Chris Williams -- OT Vanderbilt
Their at their best when LT is at his best. And they become predictable in the playoffs because of how unbalanced their O-Line is. All the talent on the Line is on the left side.

28)Dallas Cowboys
Aqib Talib -- CB Kansas
They look to upgrade Anthony Henry. Talib is the aggressive playmaker the Cowboys will love to have opposite Newman.

29)San Francisco 49ers
Sam Baker -- OT USC
They need to upgrade an O-Line that couldn't protect Alex Smith nor open holes for Frank Gore.

30)Green Bay Packers
Red Bryant -- DT Texas A&M
Corey Williams was a big part of their success. Green Bay has remained successful by replacing players in the draft not free agency and I expect them to continue that trend.

31)New York Giants
Kenny Phillips -- S Miami(Fl.)
They have LBers currently on the roster who can replace the ones who departed but I don't believe Sammy Knight is the answer at Safety.

I'm not sure if it was you but I saw this pick in a mock before and I loved it! The only question I have is whether or not they go with him over Phillips. I know they are big on the secondary and I think a SS (this year for Phillips) as well as a potential replacement for Dawkins could be hard to pass up IMO.

I dont know if the Jets would/could pass up Gholstein

I dont think Sweed will go that high

Other then that really I like the mock, I like when people take chances which is more realistic IMO.

I like Cherilous as a prospect, byt not for us, at least in the first. Cherilous is an RT prospect, and we drafted Marteen who is a RT prospect last year.

I think this is a great year to find Adams eventual replacemnt, but with this Tackle class, that could be had in rounds 3,4,or even 5

I think safety can be had in the second for the Eagles. I can see them taking Josh Barrett or DaJuan Morgan in the second.

The Jets just signed Pace for 42 million. I can't see them picking and paying the exact same type of player another 40 million.

Sweed is the top rated WR. And when teams start to believe they are one or two players away they are known to reach for players early when they believe there will be a run of players at that position before they get to pick again.

The Cowboys are the most difficult team to mock because they have two first round picks and no glaring needs. And at the end of the day this is a huge educated guess since I don't have any information other than what I see on TV, read in the paper, and get off the internet.

Most mocks have and combo of a CB/HB/WR, which is why I like your idea, and while I like the player, he is more a RT than a LT. I wouldnt mind if Otah or Chris Williams went their

i love cherilus....he may be a RT but he will be an absolutely dominating one.

Hate the hardy pick...i would punch a baby if we drafted hardy in the first with chris williams and branden albert on the board still.

if we want tall we can get bowman in the 4th

The Eagles may be picking to late in round 2 for a top safety like you named. Morgan is even Mayock's #1 pverall safety at this point and I think with the way Barrett worked out we would be lucky to have a chance at him in round 2. Being that big and running like that someone will take him early in round 2 IMO. I would love to do that if we could I just dont know how possible it is at this point. Also knwong Reid he may be more inclined to take a DB there then a WR, although I really like Thomas.

I know they paid Pace that but I think they need another edge rusher but I see your point, DB is more of a need then DE but that kind of talent is hard to pass up.

I have seen Sweed as the #1 WR in a lot of places but I think this is one of them years where anyone could be the first wr taken. At this point it really wouldnt surprise me if a guy like Thomas was the first taken, I think they are all that close.
