Jeremy Shockey missed practice yesterday with a sprained ankle, the only Giant at a position other than linebacker to sit out.
Shockey suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Giants' loss to the Redskins on Saturday. "Hopefully, we'll have a better handle on it tomorrow," coach Tom Coughlin said.
Coughlin got some good news, however, with RT Kareem McKenzie (hamstring) and DT William Joseph (sprained ankle) returning to practice.
McKenzie missed two games but sounded confident he would play Saturday in Oakland.
"I definitely feel like I'm ready," he said.
Coughlin said his team is not struggling mentally under the weight of so many injuries in such a short span.
"Whatever we have to do, whoever has to play, however we get ourselves organized to play the game," Coughlin said, "[the players] know exactly what is at stake. In order to accomplish what we set out as our original goal, we have to win one football game."
Praise for Collins
Tiki Barber has high praise for Kerry Collins, his teammate for five seasons who will be trying to damage the Giants' NFC East title hopes on Saturday.
"Kerry's the kind of guy who's aiming to win all the time. That's why I loved him as a teammate," Barber said. "Regardless of seasons or situations or games, he was always competing, just like I was. That's why we got along so well."
Coughlin said he spoke with Collins only twice, once when he took the coaching job in January 2004, and again when Collins was released after the Eli Manning trade.
Collins said he wants some revenge, but Coughlin wouldn't bite yesterday. "You're not going to put words in my mouth," Coughlin said. "You would have to ask him ... As a pro, Kerry will be at his best for this game."
Good Riddance. At least maybe we'll be able to see what Visanthe Shiancoe's got. Everytime he gets into the lineup he impresses me.

he'll do plenty of both
back when the Giants hired TC, traded for Eli and then cut Kerry, most of the teams vets like Tiki did not like the move and thought they should have keep Kerry at least 1 more year... of coarse these guys went to a SB with Kerry and not TC or Eli...
