CLEVELAND -- Former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren says he would be interested in working for the Cleveland Browns.
Holmgren said on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he hasn't yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible leader" football authority to run his struggling team. Holmgren didn't say if he would like to coach again, but he indicated that he would be welcome the chance to take on a rebuilding project like the 1-8 Browns.
Holmgren was the Seahawks' general manager and coach for four seasons. He stepped down as coach after last season.
Earlier, Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown said Lerner had met with "one of the great football minds in this country" and hinted that person might have been Holmgren.
I was hoping he would want to come back to the Seahawks.
There are some that think that Holmgren showing interest in the Browns job will motivate the Seahawks to make a serious (read: lots of money) offer to him. Good strategy for Holmgren.
Nothing is etched in stone until it's etched in stone, though.

Ohh Jerry Jones would make a Big Bid for Holmgren.
I thought he was satisfied with Phillips (who has taken the 'Boys down the path to mediocrity)
Jerry Jones has more money that GOD and a BILLION dollar stadium to boot. But I question if Holmgren would fit under Jerry's thumb. (Not without a SlimFast Diet, anyway)
But, who knows. Stranger things have happened.
