Default Roger Goodell talks about eliminating kickoffs

When the NFL changed the line of scrimmage for kickoffs to increase touchbacks, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick derisively said that it was only a matter of time before the NFL eliminated kickoffs entirely. He believed that's what the NFL wanted to do.
Belichick might wind up being proven right.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that he's taken it under consideration to remove the kickoff entirely.
"It's an off-the-wall idea. It's different and makes you think differently. It did me," Goodell told TIME in a cover story for the Dec. 17 issue. '

Even more intriguing is an alternative concept promoted by Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano. Goodell met with the NFL competition committee chairman about the concept.
"After a touchdown or field goal, instead of kicking off, a team would get the ball on its own 30-yard line, where it's fourth and 15," TIME's Sean Gregory writes. "The options are either to go for it and try to retain possession or punt. If you go for it and fall short, of course, the opposing team would take over with good field position. In essence, a punt replaces the kickoffs.

Why not? The CFL doesnt have Kickoffs and the Arena league doesnt have kickoffs. Kickoffs are as dumb like in Basketball with free throws. And Eliminate the coin toss too. How you decide who gets ball first? Put 5 players on each side of field on the 25 yard line place ball on 50 yard line. Blow the whistle then players run towards the ball who ever has the ball thats the team will start with possesion on 20 yard line. The team who doesnt get the ball chooses what side of field they want.

No more special teams? I hate it. Sometimes big returns are what makes the game exciting.

Oh yeah, good idea. We should get rid of having to kick the extra point next, and punts are irrelevant as well.

Go watch the CFL and see how they play the game. You kick the field goal at mid field and if you dont make it theres a kick return guy to bring it back thats how you limit punts. If you score a TD or Field goal ball automaticly gets on 20 yard line.

I'm convinced Goodell is almost a stupid as Lovie. The NFL would definitly become the No Fun League. That's all it needs is to take even more excitement away from it.
Oh and who gives a crap what or how the CFL plays their games. Saying the NFL should do it because another league does it is ludicrous at best. Why not make the CFL kickoff like the NFL?
Yes that sounds stupid too. See what I mean.

I don't see any real problem eliminating the kickoffs...In fact late in the game if your behind you can retain possession on a 4-15 easier then an onside kick.

Let's just tune in every Sunday to see the players face off in Madden for Xbox. That sounds safe.
