NFL JaMarcus Russell wants back.......

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/88...g-nfl-comeback

Quote:
Saying he doesn't want to be remembered as a "bust," quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2009, is attempting a comeback.

Russell, the former No. 1 overall pick of the Raiders in 2007, has been out of football since Oakland released him after the 2009 season.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Russell, 27, is being mentored by former NFL receiver and fellow LSU alumnus Michael Clayton. Russell also will work out at the TEST Football Academy, which has prepared Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, among others, for the NFL draft.

The 6-foot-6 Russell, who reportedly weighed 320 pounds in the fall, is down to 308 pounds, according to Yahoo! Sports. In addition to his work at the TEST Football Academy, Russell will be tutored by former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia on technique, Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk on reading defenses and several other former players, doctors and trainers.

"The last few years, the things going through my life, football is my job, and it is how it feeds my family. People would say [that] I didn't love the game, but that pisses me off," Russell told Yahoo! Sports. "People don't know the real you, but I want people to know the real me and see what I can do. People are always saying that I'm a bust. I want to show them I'm not. I'm committed to this now."

Maybe as a third string.......

Russel was drafted, thought he had it made and did with that 39mil contract was it? Slacked off, got the boot and now he realizes he screwed up big time and wants back? He must be broke now I'll bet.
to play and stay in the NFL it takes a lot of work and dedication.
That's something Russel evidently doesn't have.
Sorry pal no sympathy here you loser.

A 300lb QB? Who said teams were looking for mobile QB's now

The only reason people come back to play again is for the money, not because of the love of the sport or any other reason they can think of. He blew his chance with his work ethic or lack of, he isn't going to have changed and coaches aren't naive.

The day I see him starting as a QB for an NFL team is the day the sport dies.

Seriously, you people are insane... 260 lbs sounds like a lot, and it is... But not when you're 6-6... He's a huge man. Big Ben is 6-5 and 250lbs.

He's not 260lbs though, he's over 300lbs. Sure he's tall but 300lbs for a QB is too much for a league that wants to phase out the running back.

Look at all the rookie QB's coming into the NFL, they can all run with the ball. Teams are looking for agile QB's who can run and throw. The days of a QB just being a pocket passer are gone, you need to be able to run and I'm fairly sure a 300lb 6' 6" guy isn't going to be very agile.
