Vikings to play 2 cold seasons in outdoor stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Next season will be the Minnesota Vikings' last in the 31-year-old Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, and fans of the purple and gold can look forward to blue lips and red cheeks as they shiver through two seasons of old-school outdoor football.

Vikings vice president Lester Bagley said Friday that the team plans to play at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium during the 2014 and 2015 seasons, while the team's new stadium gets built at the Metrodome site in downtown Minneapolis.

Team officials and the state authority overseeing construction convened at the dome Friday to finalize the deal for Minneapolis firm Mortenson Construction to earn $12.5 million to build the new stadium. That fee could reach $15 million if the firm meets performance incentives, but could be lowered if the construction lags. Mortenson also built the Minnesota Twins' Target Field and TCF Bank Stadium.

I don't know what the fascination is with L.A. anyhow... Yes, it's a big city, but they have more than enough sports teams to chose from anyhow in that neck of the woods. California has like 7 NCAA teams alone. That's quite a bit. And in L.A., they've got the Bruins and the Trojans... Two pretty big teams in a single city. It would take a team the like of the Lakers, to make it in that city... Not one of the scrub teams the like of the Jags or whomever else they speculate would be going there.

I like to see the Dolphins move there. Or even the Rams go back there.

La fans in their great majority are Raiders, Chargers, 49ers, and Cowboys fans. So unless its not these teams the city is not intrested.

They should build a new 90,000 4 tier seat stadium in Riverside California and move the Chargers there and call them the California Chargers. Stadium should be right on freeway 5 exits So there both L.A And San Diego fans can root for them. And maybe someday the NFL could bring superbowl there.
