What sticks out with me to this day about Payton is his work ethic. It was always a big deal to show his off season training program. The guy never stopped training. ANd it showed.

Also, no matter how hard he got hit he always bounced back up. He never gave his opponants the satifaction of believing they made an impact.

The guy didn't need the superbowl win to be great. Greatness was a way of life for him.

Sweetness

my favorite nfl player of all time. god i miss him.

i remember the playoff game between us and the bears in 79 when he broke a 70 plus yard t/d run on us. thankfully it was called back on a holding penalty (that was on the otherside of the field and had no baring on the play) but man was that a highlight of days at the games.

I remember that run, too! He looked like he was hardly moving down the right sideline...not very fast at all, like he was on dead legs, yet he ran his *** off!

One of the greatest long runs I seen him make! My favorite player all-time, too sean!

I'll never forget though...his last game and watching CBS pan on him sitting on the bench after the game! Talk about tears...that was a sight in which I still get goosebumps today!
