Going into the season all we heard from every "knowledgeable" football source was that all the good teams were in the AFC, and yet now that we are just past the midway point, the American Conference has a record of just 18-20 against their National counterparts, and the division with the best overall record is not in the AFC at all, but is the NFC South.
Probably not significant, but I find it interesting.

there have been more significant injuries to the mediocre/good AFC teams at this point. the teams in the NFC that got hit by the injury bug weren't going to be any good in the first place...the balance of power shifted ever so slightly, but it was enough to balance it out. the NFC isn't clearly better than the AFC right now, they're about even...and of the top 4 teams in the league, i'd say 3 are in the AFC...

yeah, that's the difference in a nutshell. teams like arizona and new orleans will beat teams like houston and baltimore, and that's where the "balance" comes from.

Do you think any NFC team can beat Indy, Pitt, Denver, or even Cinci?

AFC is stronger in terms of elite teams, but the NFC is definitely more competitive this year, which is good.

If somebody could come up with this stat it'd be screaming AFC.
AFC Teams over .500 against NFC Teams over .500
