I'm not sure who's bored enough to be keeping track of the Ongoing Terrell Owens Saga™, but the pretty likely outcome is that the Eagles have to either let Owens play or release him. (The Eagles really ought to respond to this by saying, fine, we'll release him -- if you let us wipe his bonus off our cap.) But in any case, there's the strong possibility Owens will be a free agent within about two weeks. And who would pick him up?
Since I'm really bored, I decided to handicap every team.
New England Patriots: It will snow in hell before you will see Terrell Owens playing for Bill Belichick.
Miami Dolphins: This is one of the teams that gets casually mentioned as a possible destination, but I'm not sure why. I don't think Nick Saban is dumb enough to saddle his talent-needy team with a gigantic contract for a wide receiver. A top wide receiver is something you get when you need that last piece to your championship puzzle, not when you're at the bottom and building your way up. I think Saban is smart enough to know this. Besides, the Dolphins already have a lot of cap room tied up in a couple of mega-contracts (Sam Madison, Jason Taylor, Ronnie Brown) and can ill-afford another one. And I haven't even mentioned here that Owens is insane.
Buffalo Bills: I see this as a team that might actually consider going after him -- we need weapons for our young QB, you know -- but I can't see him wanting to go to Buffalo. He'll only want to play for a team that's relevant. He has to stay in the headlines. It's no fun to destroy a team that was only mediocre to begin with.
New York Jets: No chance.
Indianapolis Colts: They don't have the cap room for him, but wouldn't it be a blast watching Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy try to get along with him? If I could send him anywhere, this is where I'd send him.
Jacksonville Jaguars: I originally wrote 'no chance,' but something in my brain keeps telling me the Jaguars are a real possibility. But again, I don't know that they're prominent enough on a national level for Owens' taste. Money talks, though.
Tennessee Flaming Thumbtacks: Fisher would never have anything to do with him.
Houston Texans: Not worth discussing.
Pittsburgh Steelers: You will see major cities being demolished by squadrons of giant, fire-breathing, flying pigs before you will see Terrell Owens in a Steelers uniform.
Cincinnati Bengals: No thanks.
Baltimore Ravens: A real possibility. They wanted him before and might be willing to pony up the cash for him now, but I don't think he really wants to be around the Kyle Boller Project.
Cleveland Browns: I can hear Rosenhaus now: "Yeah, Terrell, Cleveland just faxed me their opening offer... it's... what? Yeah, they have a team... yeah, in the NFL... listen, I... no, Cleveland's had a team for a long time... no, T.O., I'm being serious..."
Denver Broncos: This seems to be the popular favorite, and I could see it happening. They have the cap space, they want an extra wide receiver, and they have a coach who's dumb enough to want Owens on the team. The funny thing is, Owens actually could help the Broncos win the Super Bowl this year, but he'll destroy them starting next year.
Kansas City Chiefs: A destination that could make sense, but Vermeil won't be interested in baby-sitting him.
San Diego Chargers: The unintentional comedy potential of Schottenheimer coaching Ownes is off the charts, but it won't happen.
Oakland Raiders: The natural final resting place of all uncoachable prima donnas, but folks, they don't have the cap space for it.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles are D-U-N done with Owens.
Dallas Cowboys: Parcells and Owens -- the over-under on that ugly divorce would be set at about four days.
New York Giants: Read above comment and replace "Parcells" with "Sgt. Coughlin."
Washington Redskins: My dark horse favorite. Daniel Snyder is impulsive; Joe Gibbs would love to have another stud WR and no doubt thinks he can coach anybody; they have no problem with wrecking their cap situation for a player they want; Owens would jump at the opportunity to play for them so he could stick it to the Eagles. This is honestly where I expect him to land if the Eagles are forced to release him.
Atlanta Falcons: Their head coach was one of Owens' favorite antagonists in San Francisco, so it won't happen.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: They just could go after him, and just could land him. Watching him and Chucky try to co-exist would be fun. I don't think he wants to play for a team that doesn't have a viable QB, though.
Carolina Panthers: Never.
Baton Rouge/Greater San Antonio Area/PleasepleasepleeeaseLosAngeles Saints: Heh heh. Yeah. Uh... yeah.
THE ENTIRE NFC NORTH: At a looking boing glance, no chance.
Seattle Seahawks: Holmgren probably thinks he can handle him, but he probably looks a little too much like Andy Reid for OWens' taste, don't you think? Can't see Owens wanting to play in Seattle.
St. Louis Rams: Their front office is dysfunctional and schizophrenic enough that you never know what zany thing they'll do next. Blowing up their cap to add a player at their one position of strength isn't beyond them entirely.
Arizona Cardinals: They have a big portion of their cap tied up in Fitzgerald already, and Owens isn't going to go anywhere where a receiver as good as himself is already in place. Not to mention that Denny Green has that totalitarian reputation around him that Owens will avoid like the plague.
San Francisco 49ers: I just had to include them to give you all a chuckle.
So the most likely destinations for him would be Baltimore, Denver, Washington or Tampa. I think Washington would be the favorite. And you know what? If he does get released, he'll be a perfect citizen the rest of this year and play out of his mind, as well. I have no doubt about this. Then, next year, he'll pull the same routine he's been pulling. Is it worth it, if you're the Broncos or Redskins? I dunno. Just pray the Virus doesn't end up infecting your team.

A Rams fan can hope so, anyway. Here's hoping he doesn't, for your sanity's sake. No, I'm pretty confident that won't happen. But you gotta admit, something that nutty isn't beyond the Rams...

why is there no chance he'd go to the Jets? Herm Edwards is the kind of guy that will take on any player, and werent the Jets a team that showed interest in him but never really pursued it last time TO was on the market?

Well, it's like the Dolphins. Saddling their cap and locker room with Owens makes no sense for a team that's already sunk into the depths of wretchedness. They need a lot more help than a wide receiver can bring.

I always wonder though, what if he didnt infect a team and implode it?
The chances are slim, but the tema that takes couldve gotten a great player when nobody else is interested.
TO is going to find out the hard way that the market will determine his value, not him and his bonehead agent. And there isnt a single NFL teams who is just looking for that cancer to implode thier football team.

if they re-work Penningtons contract or flatout release him they'll have the cap room
