I had the opportunity to do an interview with Houston Texans starting wide receiver Jabar Gaffney to discuss possibly welcoming 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush to the team, their troubles on offense this 2005 season, carrying on the NFL gene in his family, looking back at his days at the University of Florida, and so much more.
You can read and listen to the interview at the link below

All feedback is appreciated.

The Houston Texans are most likely to get the first pick in the NFL Draft. Do you think the Houston Texans offense would welcome Reggie Bush's running and offensive power if Houston Texans management chooses to select him?
"Yes. If they choose to go that way we would welcome him here. Hopefully he can come here and help out whoever. We just need to get things turned around and whoever we bring in can also be an addition."

Reggie Bush? RB Domanick Davis is doing a damn good job in Houston. They MUST draft LT D'Brickshaw Ferguson. Theres no way around it.

There's no way you pass up the next Michael Jordan (football-wise) if you can get him. I see it as a take-the-best-player available.

Exactly. We may need a Bowie or whatever his name was, but you can't pass up someone with Jordan-like potential.

Bowie's not the comparison. He was the #2 pick. The correct Bush-Ferguson paralell isn't Jordan and Bowie, but Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon, who was the #1 pick that year. Olajuwon was a hall of famer and won two championships -- but the Rockets made a mistake drafting him over Jordan and lost a chance at a dynasty.
Well, anyhow, it's neither here nor there. The Texans are going to draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The 49ers are going to trade down, and Reggie Bush is going to New York.

I have a hard time liking Domanick Davis when he is constantly doing the Fred Taylor routine with missing games.

he quietly put up 1400 total yards and 8 scores his rookie season (14 games, 10 starts) to go along with 1800 total yards and 14 scores last season (15 games), in 11 games this year he put up 1300 yards but is having trouble finding the end zone (much like the entire Houston offense) with only 6 scores
even if he does get injured, you don't just dump a guy like that for a player with Vick-like (not Jordan-like, yet) potential
you get help on that OL and protect him and your #1 Overall QB to allow him to throw to your #3 Overall WR

We just signed DD to a 3 year extension. He isnt going anywhere. If we take Bush (and I would) it would be to split carries with Davis. Then we have two very talented RBs in the backfield.. both of which need to be limited to 15 or so carries a game to keep them from getting injured.
This doesnt really matter though because we arent going to finish with the 1st overall pick. We will be lucky if we are still in top 5 after we beat san fran in week 17 and finish at 3-13.
MY vote goes to trading down to the middle of the first, grabbing an extra couple of picks.. and getting either an OT (Winston, McNeil, Scott..etc..etc..) or a DT (Roderique Wright, Hlatoi Ngata, that other guy i cant remember)
Im leaning towards the DT. A playmaker at DT can MAKE the 3-4 defense for you.. and with the depth at OT in this draft.. I think there is a good chance that a quality RT candidate will fall to our second pick. Chester Pitts is working pretty good at LT.. and will be better once we can put Hodgdon back at C and move McKinney back out to his natural position at LG.
sign an RG in FA (Steve Hutchinson would be nice).. and our Oline is officially "patched". Though we would be smart to draft another Center in the middle rounds.. as well as another Guard at some point.

oh and BTW.. nice interview.
Gaffney is one of the least appreciated players in the NFL. He rocks.. people dont realize.
God I hope he signs back with us after this bull**** season. He is an FA this year.
