OK. Im pissed off because the Bears lost, so I'm going to make a long winded post about what I hate about this league.

1. The Playoffs

The BCS sucks.. yes. But the NFL Playoff format is worse and even more confusing. The NFL seems to have tried its damdest to just make the most exciting sport on earth as lame as possbile.

6 Teams a Conference? And 1st round byes? Im sick of teams getting an extra week like that. It can either be great for a team or kill a team. Just kill that dumb bye. Seed for homefield advantage. The NFL really ****ed itself on that ****ty format.

What needs to happen is we need to scrap the AFC/NFC Split in the playoffs. Because in all honesty, if the Bears were the 2nd best NFC team.. then the Seahawks/Panthers are in for some trouble.

My proposal. Automatically 7 teams from the NFC and 7 teams from the AFC get to go the playoffs. Then you have 2 "Cross Conference" Wild Card spots. So if the AFC is dominant, 2 extra AFC teams will make hte playoffs. Then you seed the teams likei n College BBall.

2 #1 seeds, 2 #2 seeds... so on and so forth. No 1st round byes either.. that ****s lame as hell.

Before you shoot this down, think about it. Heres how round 1 shakes out. You have 8 games in round 1 of the playoffs.

You have 2 games on Saturady. Then 2 games on Sunday at 1 PM ET, and 2 other games on Sunday at 4 PM ET. Then you have a Sunday Night Playoff game and extend the Monday Night season for a playoff game.

Then for round 2. You have 4 games that week. 1 at 1 PM EST, 1 at 4 PM EST, Sunday and Monday Night Football too.

The semifinal games would be awesome. One on Saturday Night, the other on Sunday night.(the team that wins on Monday has the Sunday game) Then give the teams a 1 week break and have the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Theres still 4 rounds, so the length of the playoffs is the same, just more games and more Football. More $$ too.. this is win-win for the fans and the league. Not to mention, the more playoff teams the more interest the NFL will garner.

The rest of my rants I'll do later.

I am perfectly happy with the system and i think its efficient. YOu can't blame the system when your teams gets beat, if your tea loses then they just werent good enough or werent ready.

you want half the league to make it to the playoffs?

I think it works fine as it is. though I wouldnt mind it if the size of the league was increased and then a system like this was implemented. But I dont see 4-8 expansion teams in our near future.

not to mention.. if that many teams made it into the playoffs.. they would clinch a playoff berth earlier.. which would mean that teams would stop playing hard earlier in the season.. which sucks. I hate that the top teams stop playing hard in the current system..I dont want to make that kind of thing MORE prevalent.

Heck..in that system, instead of not playing hard to preserve their players, they may stop playing hard to make sure they get a lower seed, so that they can play one of the weeker teams in the first round of the playoffs.

First-round byes must be eliminated by any means necessary.

So basically make the Regular season meaningless because half the teams will make the playoffs.

It's fine the way it is now. Teams with a bye normally have the advantage, which they should. Upsets are what make the playoffs great.

You still gotta make the playoffs.

If you think about it, the teams that missed this year and wouldve gotten in by my idea are pretty deserving.

The easiest way to fix it would be to eliminate wildcards and just have division champions going to the playoffs.

that would make 8 playoff teams. then you have 4 games in the first round.. 2 games in the second round.. and then the superbowl.

That is no fun though. The Wildcard adds alot to the regular season IMO.. and id rather have 3 rounds of playoffs with 4 games, 4 games, and 2 games.. than just 2 with 4 and 2.

Less football is never a good thing.

for a wonky system.. how about adding two expansion teams and eliminating divisions so you just have the AFC teams and the NFC teams

then.. at the end of the year the top team from each conferance makes the playoffs.. plus 12 wildcard teams(conferance not being a factor in the selection).

the 2 conferance leaders get a first round bye . the 12 wildcard teams are matched up against each other randomly, conference not being a prohibitor.

in the first round... you have 6 wildcard games with the opponents being randomly selected (through some system that everyone agrees on).

this leaves you with 6 wildcard teams.. and the two leaders.

in the second round the 2 leaders are thrown in with the 6 winners and you have 4 games (randomly selected).

3rd round you have 2 games with the opponents randomly selected again.

and then the superbowl.

not a bad setup. the teams with the best records go to the playoffs.. and the two best teams in the league get a 1 round bye. Plus it allows us to add two expansion teams. It would just be a drastic change from the current setup.
