Texans: It's a done deal. Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak has the job and will take over once the Broncos are out of the playoffs.
Lions: Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm, a former teammate of Lions president and general manager Matt Millen, is the favorite, with Jim Haslett a close second. Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis interviewed earlier in the week but is not expected to be in contention.
Rams: Rivera remains a possibility and Fassel interviewed Thursday. Cameron and Fresno State coach Pat Hill also are in the hunt. But Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan appears to be the front-runner at this point.
Saints: Now that Green Bay has settled on 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy over Payton, there's a solid chance for Payton in New Orleans. Hill also is a consideration. Former Giants running back Maurice Carthon, now Cleveland's offensive coordinator, and Henderson also are under consideration.
Raiders: Hill is intriguing. Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders also is a possibility. He wants out of Kansas City after being passed over in favor of Herman Edwards.
Bills: Now that new general manager Marv Levy, 80, has done the right thing and taken himself out of consideration as the team's head coach, look for Haslett to be the odds-on favorite for that job. However, the team just asked permission from Dallas to interview Payton, who looks to be leading the Saints interviews.
