League MVP should be voted on after the season...
as for right now I would change my vote from Tiki to Steve Smith
great season, followed by super playoffs so far... 22 rec 302 yds 3 TDs on the road... sick
Smith shows up when it counts (playoffs)... Manning and Alexander throw up....

I have to agree with this. I would basically mean that no one could win the MVP award unless their team not only made the playoffs, but made it deep into them. Just seems silly to me. I guess there should be some sort of playoffs MVP too.

How many times has the league MVP not been on a playoff team?

its an idea I guess, but for those that are one and done, one game where they dont play as well as they did the entire season denotes everything they did during the regular season? And I'm not saying this because tiki was a top candidate this year either, I havent really been one of the guys thats been outspoken for Tiki to be MVP, and I'd give it to Steve Smith at this point. Just doesnt seem like a fair idea to include the playoffs.

what every team in the leagues goal?
Superbowl
Are you really the league MVP if you don't lead your team to the big dance?
I'm just throwing it out there... it's rare (if ever) that the MVP is not on a playoff team, just a thought that the entire season AND post season should count

the only problems I see with this would be that
a) a team that goes 10-6 and still makes the playoffs behind a player that has a pheonominal year, and loses in the first or even second round, they're not going to get as much credit for what they did
b) ever TEAM's goal is the superbowl, and only good TEAMS make it there, as we saw last week with the Seahawks, one player can contribute like crazy and a good team can still find a way to win.
c) it might be rare, but say a 10-6 team misses out on the playoffs and a guy rushes for about 1800 yards and 20 td's. is he not worthy of league MVP? for him to put up those numbers and a team to still not make the playoffs says to me the player is awesome and the team is not.

i know the arguement your making and its all good
but again I ask... how often has the leauge MVP not been on a playoff team?
I have no idea
Was Barry Sanders ever MVP? if so, were the Lions a PO that year?
I really never payed much attention to this award. This year was probably the most I've ever even thought about it.
