Thats 4 consecutive decades.
For those you say that the Steelers didnt go in the 80's, your wrong. Although it was the 79 season, Superbowl 14 was played on Jan 20 1980. So technically the Steelers will now have been in the SuperBowl for 4 consectutive decades. Not even the Cowboys can claim that.

No, technically, they didn't. Since we start counting with year 1, rather than a non-existent year 0, 1980 was the last year of the decade of the 70's. Just like 2000 was the last year of last millenium and 2001 is the first year of this one. Therefore, they never went to a Super Bowl during the decade of the 80's (1981-1990).

I don't think it's anything official but it just makes sense since the first decade would be 1-10, the second was 11-20 and so on.
