According to the Dallas Morning News this morning . If this is true the staff that Whisenhunt is putting together in Arizona is looking good. I'm just wondering if they will bring in Mark Whipple as QB coach next?
Now that I think of it SDOGO you should know if this true can you confirm Carthon/Whipple ?
To be honest with you, Todd has been really busy the last few days tieing up loose ends in Dallas and attending the funeral of his Aunt at home here. He has yet to spend more then the hour he spent during the interview in Arizona.
Were having dinner Monday before he heads back out to Dallas. He expects to be in Arizona by the 2nd week of February.
What I'm saying is we have not talked much about Arizona and they have not discussed any more moves with him so I'm kind of out of the loop on this one.
Our Cardinals writer at TSN says he was given every indication Carthon was the guy they wanted. beyond that I can't help much more at this time.
The Cardinals will hire former NFL running back Maurice Carthon as their running backs coach, an NFL source confirmed Saturday, no surprise since both Carthon and new offensive coordinator Todd Haley were developed under ex-Cowboys coach Bill Parcells.
Haley worked with Carthon on the Cowboys’ staff during the 2004 season.
Carthon last worked in Cleveland as offensive coordinator, when he resigned under heavy pressure six games into the 2006 season
Carthon played fullback for Parcells with the New York Giants, and worked under Parcells on the staffs of the Cowboys, New York Jets and New England Patriots.
New coach Ken Whisenhunt remains in the process of filling out his first staff in Arizona. He had said he didn’t want to hire many offensive assistants until he had brought in a coordinator. Haley wasn’t hired until Thursday.
The Cards still are looking to fill coaching slots for quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends, as well as the defensive line.
Looks like they want Todd Haley to have a say of who else they bring in on offense wonder what he thinks of Whipple as a QB coach?
I dont know why Carthon would be taking a step back like this. Isnt the goal for most if not all of these assistants is to become Head Coach? I would relish a role as OC over RB coach. I see this revolving door and guys taking huge step backwards, imo, all the time.

he struggled horribly as OC in Cleveland...I think this is a good move for him, it's what he knows best and he can work his way back up the ranks if he can do a good job with Edge and JJ Arrington, which I think he will IMO they could learn a lot from him

he struggled in Dallas too, but ...yeah maybe you are right. Like I said though, its a revolving door. What doesnt work in one city MIGHT work in another? I dont know!

He's absolutely hated by his players. They can't stand his ****... and I'm not even talking about playcalling. One rumor has it that Eddie George had to sit out in his car 20 minutes or so just to get ready to hear Mo's bull**** that day. He criticizes the best players on the team after sorely underutilizing them, and as a result he was called out in the media by two players before he got the boot this past season.
His playcalling doesn't set up anything, he just calls mindless things like swing passes to the one-dimensional Terrelle Smith, or a FB Option pass in the red zone on 3rd and 1. Fails to utilize the best skill position talent on our team, using K2 as a check down on first and second downs then routinely taking him out of the lineup on third-and-5 or longer. Also refused to use guys like Harrison and Vickers when they proved in preseason they could add things to our offense besides between-the-tackles running. Then there's the old favorite, a sure-fire 3rd and 8 draw play to the slowest RB in the league, Reuben Droughns.
Mo has proven he can't handle a coordinator job even with a ****ty team, and I guarantee he would get ousted in the middle of his first season if he ever gets a HC job like some of you are saying.
