Sabol: Rams-Titans Greatest Super Bowl Game Ever
Friday, February 9, 2007

Of the 41 Super Bowls that Steve Sabol has attended, he says the Rams' Super Bowl victory over the Tennessee Titans ranks as his No. 1 game in Super Bowl history.

Sabol, President of NFL Films, said the Rams' 23-16 win in Super Bowl XXXIV is "my choice for the greatest game. I say that because it was decided by the most basic of football fundamentals — a tackle."

On the final play of the game, Rams' LB Mike Jones tackled Titans' WR Kevin Dyson at the 1-yard line to preserve the win.

"That ending was unique," Sabol said.

I disagree. That 4th quarter was awesome but the game as a whole was not "the best ever".

It was refreshing to see a Super Bowl that wasn't a one-sided *** beating for a change, but I wasn't that impressed with that game, aside from the ending. I wasn't all that impressed with the '99 Rams either, aside from that ridiculous offense (that didn't play many tough defenses that year until the playoffs, IIRC). But, that team officially got rid of any "overrated" tag when it continued to dominate years later.

It was good. Pats-Rams was good as well. I'm partial to Super Bowl XXXVIII myself for obvious reasons.

like Sabol said, it was the 'ending' that was unique, otherwise, the game itself from the 1st through the third quarter wasnt nearly as entertaining as that finish!

I liked XIII even though we lost.

The first half was nothing but the kurt warner and his wifes flattop show. The 4th was pretty intresting, the end was sickening.
