Default 1st & 10 Week 9

Everyone agrees that Sunday's Colts-Patriots showdown is like a midseason championship game. With two unbeaten teams at this stage of the season, the NFL hasn't had a regular-season game quite like this one.

But ultimately will it be meaningful? There is a chance it might. Although the goal to gain a tie-breaking edge for a future meeting in the playoffs, less might be riding on this game than people think.

Tony Dungy has been hinting at it all week. The Colts' coach knows his team has a much tougher closing schedule than the Pats, who -- face it -- have a patsy schedule because of the ineptness within the AFC East. The Colts could win Sunday's game but not win home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

In other words, the road to the Super Bowl might go through Foxborough regardless of Sunday's outcome.

The Colts' closing schedule consists of teams that are currently 36-29, a tough .554 road that includes Sunday's game against the 8-0 Patriots. Their second-half schedule features four games against teams with winning records. The toughest challenges will be trips to San Diego and Baltimore against tough 3-4 defenses.

Whilst I am rooting for Indy tomorrow, I think both teams will eventually run out of gas. Things can't last forever. The Pats are freakin' ridiculous, and the Colts are just plain good.

I dunno. Maybe both teams were "destined." Tomorrow will truly decide who is "top gun" in the NFL.

45-41, Indy.

HiYa Gang ~

I'm certain there are hoards of comments on the BIG GAME today throughout this Forum but I wasn't into shifting through it all and it was good to finally see P-Rez on here so I thought I'd place this brief comment in his.

HYPE is the word [phrase] that sells tickets & Network ratings. Pats vs Cowboys was HYPED as a preview of this year's Super Bowl if you can believe that. So everybody watched and so they should if you like, er love Football. So today we have the two remaining unbeaten Teams and of course this is gonna be hyped which is a good thing.

BUT what I have a problem with are the comments I've been hearing & reading on how ugly the Pats are in their dominance over the Teams they've taken down. "How dare Bill leave his Star QB in to throw more TD passes after being up 900 points, you just don't do that in the NFL" or "Yeah, after the Spy Gate issue, the Pats are out to make a point that they're capable of beating anybody without needing to result to spying on another's Teams Game Plan".

Why in the World would - could - should anybody begrudge a Team for going the distance? Hell I love the fact that they are so confident about their chances that they make a play on 4th & short. Heck if you're a DC fan such as I, you know how many disappointments I've watched over the years when we had 4th & One and our Coach kicks it away. Absolutely no confidence in the Team at all to make a freakin much needed yard. The games we've lost because we probably punted more then any other Team in history.

We're Armchair Quarterbacks and we would have gone for it without a doubt. And 2C a Team that does go for it is nothing short of Glorious. As I see it, it's up to their Opponents to stop them. If that they fail to do so, why in the World are we condemning the Pats for that? So then there's the point of keeping Brady in when they could easily allow their 2nd String QB a few snaps. Maybe that's a good point given those guys want to play as bad as anyone else and it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep your backup guy loose & ready just in case. For that, I have no answer, could it be Tom & Bill are chasing the Record Book?

Personally, I see no other logical reason to leave your Starter in when your Team is clearly going to win and the way they've been winning, that concept became clear in the 3rd Quarter of most games they've played thus far. So now people are hoping for a Pats loss? WOW, that's amazing, our society wants Champions but we don't like to see dominance. So what's a Person or Team to do? We want to see a Team win but not demonstrate that they are so good that no other Team or Person has a chance of an upset. Well when a Team is as good as the Patriots seem to be at this point of the Season, I would tend to think any Team that does pull off a Victory, makes the Win all that much more meaningful.

So in conclusion, let's give the Pats their glory and cheer for them as well. And if they should pull of the Dolphins of 72' trick, then all the better. I personally can't decide who I think will win today's game but if I were to bet real money, I'd have to give the Pats the edge because it appears they are on a mission to prove they can win a Super Bowl without the need for ... well you know what I mean.

Hey when the dust finally settles, my Cowboys are still gonna win the SuperBowl ..
