Colts place Freeney on IR; foot injury will require surgery
"INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts have placed defensive end Dwight Freeney on injured reserve, ending his season.
The team says the left foot injury Freeney suffered during Sunday's loss to San Diego was diagnosed as a Lisfranc injury that will require surgery. The injury is a type of fracture-dislocation of the midfoot.
The Colts say team physicians anticipate Freeney to make a full recovery in time for next season.
Freeney is a three-time Pro Bowler and is the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.
Simeon Rice, who the Colts claimed off waivers Monday from Denver, was expected to practice with the team on Wednesday."
