Ahh yes Dan Fouts!! I remember the days of the explosive SD offense. Not much defense but the long bombs from Dan to Charlie Joiner are very memorable!!!!
I loved those games that were 40-30 final.

The good old days!!!

Another classic was the 1982 game between the defending Superbowl champion 49'ers and the Chargers. A back-and-forth 41-37 affair won by San Diego. I remember Fouts lying on his back clapping his hands because he knew he had just thrown a touchdown pass. I think there was over a 1000 yards of offense and both QB's passed for 400+ yards.

that was such a great year '82.

I remember Wes Chandler had over 1000 yards receiving on that 9 game schedule. He only played in 8 games due to injury he got in the raider game.

I was actually going to mention that. Remember how he had 100 yards receiving in the FIRST HALF of the playoff game in Pittsburgh? The Steeler pass rush couldn't get close enough to Fouts to know whether he had a beard or not.

Truly an amazing offense. And I agree with you about '82. Remember Riggins rumbling through the playoffs and Superbowl?

Of course... I can see it in my head. He was definitely in the zone. Great player.

You guys must go way back. I thought I was the only old geezer here.

Kellen Winslow one of the best TE there ever was. Of course he had a top notch QB.

I started watching them midway in 1977. Before I knew it we went to a couple of games in 1978 and was hooked! We had season tickets the following year. I never stopped watching.
