David Jacobs Names Names

Earlier this month, convicted steroids supplier David Jacobs said that, while he wants to help the NFL clean up the steroids problem in the sport, Jacobs isn’t interested in naming names.
“I don’t want to ruin anyone’s life,” he said at the time. “I just want to make things right. I got into this to help people, and I want to finish it helping people.”
And so when Jacobs met with NFL officials on Wednesday, what did he do? He named names.
Jacobs won’t name the names publicly, but he privately gave the information to the NFL folks with whom he met. And just because Jacobs hasn’t gone public with the names, he still has exposed himself to possible defamation suits, if he’s not being truthful about the players who allegedly bought steroids from him.
Though we’ve been trying to take a day or two off from mentioning Spygate, it’s ironic to us that the NFL was obsessed with the question of whether former Pats employee Matt Walsh is credible — but has expressed no similar concerns regarding whether Jacobs can be believed.
