Hey guys, first post!
This may sound like a “questionnaire” (ok, maybe it is), but I’m relatively new to football, and I’m trying to learn the game as much as possible before the 2009 season starts up.
1. How many trades are there in a season? I watch a lot of baseball and hockey. Do trades compare?
Maybe like three during the season, and quite a bit more around the draft.
2. If you don’t live in a city that has an NFL team, who’s your favourite team and why? I live in Toronto, but I must admit, I’m not much of a Bills fan.
What ever team you feel like you have a personal connection with, I live in Chicago and the Bears are my team but I like Jacksonville a lot because I like the area so much.
3. Give me your top 10 players of all time.
1. Walter Payotn
2. Mike Singletary
3. Bill George
4. Dick Butkus
5. Richard Dent
6. Gary Fencik
7. Steve Young
8. Gale Sayers
9. Jerry Rice
10. Fred Taylor
4. Who’s the greatest team ever? The worst?
Very sujectable and probably bias but I can't go against the '85 Bears, worst the Packers of the '70s and '80s.
5. Who are your Super Bowl picks for 2010?
Jacksonville and Philadelphia
6. Is football your favorite sport? Why?
Yes and I couldn't tell you.
7. I get the impression that, unlike most sports, football is more about the teams than the players. Is this a fair assumption? For example, could you name more baseball players than football players?
Yes because in football most of the time even if you have a great player and a bunch of scrubs around him the aren't going to be very good you need a good core of players. And I could probably name more football players than I could baseball players but I follow football more closely that I do baseball.
8. What would you say is the fastest way to learn the sport? Obviously, watching it is the best way. What are some good websites?
On websites like this and others, watching it and taking constructive criticism is the most helpful tool in learning at least in my opinion.
9. Give me your top 5 greatest football moments ever (ie “The Catch”).
1. '85 Bears
2. Payton breaking the single game rushing record
3. My first game at Soldier field in 1982 against the Packers
4. The NFC Championship game two years ago
5. Every time the Bears beat the Packers
