Welcome to the boards here as well! Great to see you here and as BBF as well.

And I think everyone realizes it's the #1 sport in the USA, and quite frankly, right now, I don't think it's really all that close.

American football will never be the most watched sport in the world - ever. Hell, look at the Championship match between Barcelona and Manchester United from the other day - over 200 million people watched it worldwide.

Incorrect. Basketball is the second most popular sport in the world, and if basketball can take over asia, then it will be the most popular sport in the world

It'll never get to the overall popularity of soccer worldwide.

I would not say never. I never thought that Football would be the #1. That does not mean that I think it will happen any time soon, but there is a chance.

I don't think the NFL is anywhere close to being #1. When was the last time you watched a soccer game? They are actually pretty exciting. Especially the Euro games. GO SOUNDERS!!!

Football will never be anywhere near as popular as soccer. If anything, look at how much money it requires to play football. You have to have pads and equipment. You need a correctly sized field. And honestly, football is much to complicated of a sport for it to be played correctly without proper coaching. Soccer, which is a sport I love (GO SOUNDERS!), requires only a ball and a place to play. This makes soccer much more accessible for poorer countries. Look at high school sports as an example, the richer schools are usually always more dominant in football while every high school is able to compete in basketball and soccer.

I honestly doubt football will ever overcome soccer. In most countries (basically everywhere but the USA and Canada) kids are practically raised on soccer.
