Default Al Davis compares Russell to Elway

well raider fans there you have it. The biggest hint the Raiders indeed will be taking JaMarcus Russell to lead the Raiders in the future at QB. Personally they could do a lot worse the guy is talented, im just hoping he is smart enough to adapt himself o the league. here is the link:NFL.com - NFL News

I think that I will finally succumb to the masses and say that russell will be picked by the Raiders, I heard that talks with Garcia only broke down because Garcia would only agree to come here if they did not take a QB #1, if Al Davis was at that point gung ho about CJ, then why would that have been a problem? I really think that they are taking a QB. Most likely Russell.

Just about everything that is being said right now by a team has double if not more meanings. When reports came out that the Raiders were turned off by his weight then I thought it was a good chance they would go with him. The Raiders have been linked to Carr, Garcia and to Aaron Rogers? You must ask your self WHY. If they get another QB then they would be free to go after CJ who the Buccs seem to be after. So mabe now the Buccs get worried that he will not be there so they trade up with the Raiders and the Raiders get either Quinn or Russel plus extra picks. That all being said since Al Davis is running thing I expect the Raiders to announce that they will draft Norm Van Brocklin as the #1 pick since he is such a good young prospect.

I just think the thing with Garcia not signing because oakland would have just said that they were not going to draft a QB, they didn't, so, no Garcia. I have been a proponent of them drafting Johnson or Thomas, but I really think they won't now. too bad for them, LOL

The Raiders were smart to pick JaMarcus Russell. Why? Because Brady Quinn can't win the big games that's no knock on him he's a good QB, but he can't carry a team by himself where as Russell once he develops can. Also, Russell is Culpepper huge, he can shake off the blitz, make all the throws with ease, and he is more of a running threat with his size than Quinn. Furthermore, he is better than Culpepper was as rookies because Russell was a 3 year starter at LSU, because he has more experience. If they can establish the running game then when they want to throw the long ball - the bomb will be there. The kid needs to play right away, there's no sense in playing stiffs when Russell is better than anyone else they have.
