Low Risk Run insurance for the Silver and Black
On May 14th the Cincinnati Bengals released 14 yr veteran Defensive Tackle Sam Adams.
Adams joined the Bengals as a free agent last year after an unproductive 3rd year in Buffalo.
Adams, 6-3 355 lbs., is best utilized as a lane clogger and run stuffer but was unproductive in Cincinnati, appearing in 16 games and registering only 25 tackles and 2 sacks.
Despite Adams lack of production in recent seasons, he could serve as a valuable asset for the Silver and Balck.
Heres why.
Girdth.
He's a load.
His pressence as a lane clogger would allow Oakland's excellent second tier Line Backing corps. to scrape the line and run down backs before they can get up field ala' Ray Lew and the Ravens of yore.
With Warren Sapp's surprise weight loss this off season and chronic dissapointment Tyler Brayton taking reps in camp, the Raiders look dangerously unstable at the critcal point of attack.
Anntaj Hawthorne rejoins the Raiders for his 3rd season, had 13 tackles last year and is definitely a long term project.
