NO SENSE trying to put this gently. One of the things the NFL does best is lock the barn door, pretend the horses never got out and then ask, "What horses?"
And speaking of horses, maybe this is beating a dead one, but six years later, they maintain the tuck rule still exists, even though you see it called about as often as you see Pacman Jones helping little old ladies across the street.
Hey, life goes on. As all you good Raider fans would agree, that issue is gone and forgotten, you're over it and have moved on.
Sure.
Well, now you're not likely to care much for the latest NFL message sent down to the teams in the league regarding that bizarre play in San Diego on Nov. 26 last.
You may remember it as Vincent's Good Penalty.
No surprise, but NFL poobahs have reaffirmed that the call on the field involving Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson was the correct call and will continue to be ruled as it was that day.
The Maalox cocktails are on me, folks.
To refresh, Jackson caught a pass, went down without being touched by the defense, got up — still alive — and spiked/spun the ball in celebration of having achieved a first down.
It was ruled an illegal forward pass, thrown beyond the line of scrimmage. Uh huh. Jackson was no more passing the ball than he was planting corn. Anyone in the known universe could clearly see that in spiking the ball, he was voluntarily fumbling.
