Raiders make it official -- Lofton joins Kiffin's staff

James Lofton, who twice interviewed for the position of head coach with the Raiders, was officially added to the staff Wednesday as the wide receivers coach.

Lofton, 51, replaces Charles Coe, who will be re-assigned, according to senior executive John Herrera.

After being fired by the San Diego Chargers, Lofton interviewed with coach Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Greg Knapp on Jan. 28, and shortly afterward he agreed to terms with managing general partner Al Davis.

Lofton is the second coach to be added to the staff since the end of the season. Brian Roll was named strength and conditioning coach last week, replacing Jeff Fish. Fish accepted a job with the Atlanta Falcons as the strength and conditioning coach.
