Default Six return to Extreme

Six players, who have made key contributions to the Bloomington Extreme indoor football team during the franchise's first two years of existence, will return for a third season, first-year Extreme coach Kenton Carr announced Monday.

Quarterback Dusty Burk headlines the list of returnees, along with kicker Peter Christofilakos, wide receiver Glenn Johnson and defensive players Quince Holman, Eric Johnson and Dion Brown.

All were instrumental in the Extreme reaching the championship game of the United Indoor Football League's Eastern Conference playoffs, one game short of the UIF championship contest. The Extreme finished the season with a 9-8 overall record.

Burk holds virtually every Extreme passing record and is the career leader in all Extreme passing departments. He has been the Most Valuable Player on offense during the two years the team has existed and was voted as the Most Valuable Player while leading the East to victory in the UIF All-Star Classic.

Christofilakos holds all the kicking records for the Extreme and has been the Most Valuable Player on special teams for two years. He is the team's all-time leading scorer and has played the most games in franchise history, appearing in 30 of 32 games.

Holman was a member of the winning Eastern Conference All-Stars last season and ranked seventh on the team in tackles from his defensive line position with 21 solos and 27 assists. He also had eight tackles for loss and 6.5 quarterback sacks.

Defensive lineman Eric Johnson, who announced his retirement at the end of last season, had a change of heart over the off-season and will return for another campaign. He is tied with Holman for the franchise record for quarterback sacks

Johnson is the franchise leader in receptions, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards. He ranked second on the team last year in receptions and receiving yards, and third in scoring.

Brown, a defensive back, ranks third in games played by an Extreme player with 25. He is the team's all-time interception leader, ranked fifth in tackles, and third in kickoff return yardage.

Other players who will be on the team's opening-day training camp roster who have logged time with the Extreme in its first two years include kicker Doug Higgins, offensive lineman Mike Rudicil, wide receiver Marcus Hayden, linebacker Calvin Jones and defensive end Montel Conner.

The Extreme begins its third campaign Feb. 29 at 7:05 in an exhibition game against Rock River of the Continental Football League at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Season tickets, ranging from $80 to $216, are on sale at the Coliseum box office, 101 S. Madison Street; by email at www.uscellularcoliseum.com; or by phone at 309-434-2679 or 866-891-9992.
