You have a deal
Also as an incentive I think the guy despite playing div. II lead the nation in tackles too I believe. I don't really know that much about him but I was just hype to see a bigger then 5'11' 230 pound LB for us.

I'm not holding that against him, but as I said over and over we failed in improving our LB's and RB's IMO.

He did fail in improving them if you are looking for him to start this season. We have Jones (Strong) Trotter (middle) and Barber (weak) Gocong will more then likley back up the strong and McCoy a 2bd rounder last year will back up the weak side, that's fine with me for now.
As far as the RB outside of White there wasn't any bruisers, I would rather have a guy like Travis Henry (he will be cut) then taking a chance with a rookie in an already young back field.

I would have liked to seen us draft Cedric Humes outta VT. I think he would've been a great hole puncher for westbrook & co.I'm not sold on Barber as being a every-down,every game WLB.and Jones was underachiving last year.

our LB underacheived partly because our D-line did nothing, now that our d-line is huge and strong, the LB's will look alot better this year. Barber is healthy and thrived in our defense before, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't do that again

That's my line of thinking as well. The D-line being as bad as they were last year effected a lot of areas on the team from the LB to the DB's. I hope this year when we have Kearse, Walker, Bunkley, Howard that they will hold up more and allow the LB's to make plays and only have the DB's in coverage for so long.

Then why give Barber just a one year contract? Trotter is the only real threat in our LB corps, we need more playmakers and I don't think Barber,Simoneau and McCoy are it.

Barber got a one year deal because of a) his age and b) the injury he is trying to come back from. His deal IMO kind of reminds me of Trotters...kind of like a low risk contract and if all works out then you sign them. I think Barber is only a one year guy, but I would like to see more of McCoy before I write him off as not being a playmaker. Barber when he was here was HUGE playing that position and with the additions up front I think he can be the same player.
The oart that hurts is that tehy really don't value LB's that much...it hurts and it helps because they put money into the Line and Secondary and they are just fine IMO.

I like mccoy and the reason we give barber one year contract was the same reason we gave trotter a one year contract to:
a: prove you are healthy
b. prove they can do the job.
trotter did and he was rewarded, now barber is also older and the eagles feel that the system makes the players not vice versa. If he plays like trotter did coming back, then they will prolly keep him.
