Default Freak shows old form

Quote:
Jevon Kearse doesn't think he's completely ready yet. His coach does.

They'll just have to agree to disagree for now.

One thing is for certain: The Freak has brought a lot of energy to Eagles training camp. After sitting out all but one game last year with a knee injury suffered in the season opener, the veteran defensive end has appeared to go about his business like someone looking to make up for lost time.

He's spent most of this first week of practice in all the quarterbacks' faces, impressing both head coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Jim Johnson in the process.

"Personally, I don't feel it," Kearse confessed. "It might look like I (have picked up from where I left off last year), but I'm my own biggest critic. I don't feel like I'm where I want to be, but I'm working every day to try to get back there."

Kearse was given a scheduled day off Sunday but was back in action Monday and looked like he had a full range of motion along with the same explosiveness he's always had.

"I think he's there," Reid said. "He's had more sacks those first three days than he's ever had since he's been here. He's been very hard to block for us, and he's doing a great job getting off the football."

Freak rankings

Kearse was asked to rank the pass-rush styles of some the defensive ends in camp. Here are his responses.

On Juqua Thomas: "He uses his hands, good leverage, gets on the edge. I would say J.T. has speed and good leverage because he's shorter."

Hes never really lived up to the hype with Philly. Never got over 7.5 sacks.
