Andrews to see specialist for ailing ankle

Bad news from Eagles camp this morning.
The team has sent starting right guard Shawn Andrews to a specialist in Philadelphia for an examination on his ailing right ankle.
Andrews, who has been a stud on the right side of the Birds’ formidable offensive line, has not practiced since turning the ankle at practice on Saturday.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid downplayed the significance of the injury, calling the move simply a precauation. However, it is the same ankle that gave out on Andrews in the team’s 2004 season opener, an injury that cost Andrews his entire rookie season.
Scott Young is filling in for Andrews on the first unit offensive line.
Also among the missing for the morning full-contact workout was running back Brian Westbrook. Reid said the star back was excused from practice for personal reasons. The coach did not indicate when Westbrook, who apparently has left Lehigh, would return.
Still sitting out is starting safety and team leader Brian Dawkins, who continues to be hobbled by a strained Achilles. Dawkins is making some progress, and was running on the side.
Three other players missed the morning practice: Correll Buckhalter, who is nursing a knee contusion; Lito Sheppard, with an abdominal strain; and L.J. Smith, who just got back on the field yesterday after undergoing offseason hernia surgery.
