McNabb due to see action
McNabb due to see action | Daily News | 08/16/2007
Quote:
Donovan McNabb will take the field tomorrow night in the Eagles' preseason home opener against the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field, the quarterback's first game action since he ripped his right ACL last Nov. 19 at the Linc against the Tennessee Titans.
McNabb's participation has been unofficially official for a week or so, the scenario emerging as it became clear the Eagles weren't going to play him in Monday's overall preseason opener at Baltimore. (After seeing the way the Ravens blitzed, you have to think that might have been more of a factor than the artificial turf Eagles coach Andy Reid cited.)
Reid confirmed McNabb would play Friday on his radio show Tuesday night, and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg reiterated during his scheduled news conference yesterday.
Mornhinweg deferred to Reid, who will speak with reporters today, when asked how much McNabb will play. A few series seems to be a safe bet, with a longer stint likely for the third game, in Pittsburgh on Aug. 26.
"He's had an awfully good camp, so I would expect him to play well," said Mornhinweg, when asked what he wanted to see from McNabb. "He's moving around very well. There were only one or two occasions in training camp where I thought his legs were going a little bit, just like everyone else's. Other than those couple of occasions, I didn't see anything that reminded me that he's coming off major knee surgery."
McNabb is scheduled to address reporters after Reid speaks today. *
