So, you want to go to Eagles training camp?
You've decided that dealing with the Pennsylvania Turnpike traffic, the long walks in the searing sun, and the need to swat away nagging gnats is a small price to pay to welcome back the Boys of Autumn in Year 1 A.T.O.
All right then, here's a primer on what to look for and where to go if you decide to make the trip to Lehigh University.
From a fan's standpoint, the first few days of camp are duller than a first-round World Cup soccer match between Japan and Croatia. Rookies and a few selected veterans arrive Thursday and work out Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but there's no "live" scrimmaging. Veterans report early Sunday evening, and Monday's workout is closed to the public.
The date to circle on your calendar is July 25, which is a week from tomorrow. That's when you want to start going to the 8:45 a.m. workouts because the team will have "live" scrimmages between the offense and defense. Typically, the first-team offense goes against the second-team defense and vice versa, although there are rare occasions when the first units go against each other.
