Default Westbrook: Ultimate Weapon

When you're a player in the NFL, one skill that is extremely important and valuable to have, really isn't a skill at all.
Versatile players are a hot commodity in the league these days, because the more they can do, the more dangerous they are.

For the Eagles, that player is Brian Westbrook.

RB Brian Westbrook
His position on the depth chart is running back. But Westbrook can do much more than that. He's widely regarded as one of the best receiving backs in the NFL, working from the backfield. At this year's training camp, he's worked out as a receiver from the slot and flanker positions during drills.

Westbrook has even got into the mix in the passing game, throwing a 25-yard strike to Todd Pinkston back in 2002.

"He's the ultimate weapon," said quarterback Donovan McNabb of the Pro Bowl running back. "And talking to guys from other teams about his speed, playmaking ability, agility and the misses he creates just solidifies

You beat me on this one. I think that Westbrook is very good at many things and Moats is a good backup because he is so much like him. I still think that they need a good power running Buckhalter might be the guy if he can stay healty. WestBrook has neve been one of the top runners in the game the most yards he has ever had in a season is like 812 but that same year he had around 750 recieving yards so if you use him right he could be very effective. I always thought he would have been a great fit for the Colts.

Westbrook will/would be more effective if Buckhalter returns or we find a "between the tackles" RB. the more we have to rely on Westbrook, the less effective he'll be.

Westbrook is good but has to stay healthy. He's been injured alot. Ryan Moats provides a good 1-2 punch to take some of the load off of Westbrook.

I would like for them to look at a guy like Jonathan Wells or keep any eye on the situation in Tenn. IMO one of them won't make the team.

Yes Westbrook is very versatile. They can fake the run then pass to him. He can fake the run and pass. He can block he can receive. He is another dimension of the Eagle that make them successful.

I've mention in another thread that it's possible that Shelton outta Carolina might be cut. he could be a good pick-up for us.

The Panters spent a 2nd round pick on the guy and are already thinking about getting rid of him. They need him to be their shortyardage back if he gets cut that means he does not have what it takes to make it. Last year before he got hurt he was not doing well either. Wells is a better back.
