Ed Jasper didn't pull any punches.
The 10-year vet said yesterday he still thinks he has something left in the tank but admitted that keeping a good, young defensive tackle on your team beats keeping an old one every time.
“You have guys who can rush the passer, you have guys who can block good,'' said Jasper, in his second stint with the Birds. “When I first left here every time I thought about Philly's defense I would think of a big two-gapper guy who couldn't move, who if you got them on the edge you had them. But (the Eagles) really have a good group of defensive linemen. And young defensive linemen.
“Truth is, if I was a defensive line coach or a head coach I would always go with the young guys. You can't have enough young guys. They're so hard to find. You never let a (young) defensive lineman go.''
