For Westbrook, knee injury still a big mystery

Brian Westbrook is questionable for Sunday's game. PHILADELPHIA — Brian Westbrook was excused from the Eagles’ practice for a second consecutive day Friday, and as he was, a couple of things began to swell: His knee, according to Andy Reid … and a small mystery.
As he has been followed by knee troubles throughout his playing career — both at Villanova, and with the Eagles — Westbrook’s situation cannot be easily dismissed. But Reid ratcheted Westbrook’s absence up a notch Friday, adding “swelling” to the description. The running back was carried as “questionable” on the injury report.
Though both Reid and Westbrook expressed confidence that Westbrook would be available Sunday when the Birds entertain the Miami Dolphins, the story — if not the knee — somewhere became tweaked. At first, the absence was widely credited to the weather, which has caused the Eagles to move their workouts indoors, on the less-forgiving artificial surface. As such, it was considered precautionary.
