Steelers re-sign cornerback Deshea Townsend

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed cornerback Deshea Townsend on Friday.

Townsend has played eight seasons for the Steelers, who drafted him in the fourth round out of Alabama in 1998.

Townsend has started the past season-and-a-half and has 13 1/2 sacks and 14 interceptions for his career.

The Steelers also signed defensive end Rodney Bailey, who played for Seattle last year to back up projected starter Brett Keisel.

Bailey started his career with the Steelers in 2001 as a sixth-round draft pick from Ohio State.

He also has played for New England. In 56 games, he has 9 1/2 sacks.

not really sure how this is going to affect the Steelers. they always seem to have someone ready to jump in and take the place of whoever left.
