PITTSBURGH (AP) Darren Perry, the Steelers' defensive secondary coach since 2003, resigned following a meeting with new coach Mike Tomlin.
Ray Horton, the assistant defensive backs coach the last three seasons under coach Bill Cowher, may remain on the staff.
Perry, a former Steelers safety, was an assistant defensive backfield coach in 2003, then took over as the defensive backs coach in 2004 with Horton as his assistant. Perry returned to Pittsburgh from the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Wednesday night after giving his resignation to Tomlin earlier in the day.
Perry starred at Penn State, then started at safety for seven consecutive seasons with Pittsburgh after being taken in the eighth round of the 1992 draft. He finished his career with the New Orleans Saints in 2000.
Tomlin said **** LeBeau would remain as the defensive coordinator and Bruce Arians would be promoted from receivers coach to offensive coordinator.
Ken Anderson, a former Bengals quarterback and offensive coordinator, will replace Mark Whipple as the quarterbacks coach. Tomlin wanted to make a change after Ben Roethlisberger's play dropped off significantly last season following his outstanding first two NFL seasons.
How is this trouble? With the performance of the secondary (excluding Polamalu), he should have been fired. I expect Tomlin to find a good secondary coach and hopefully find some actual talent to defend the pass.

Our secondary is still very good, last year was a mess altogether and with our 3-4, alot of our pass defense comes from the rush. There were alot of injuries last year, not ot mention cowher didnt care anymore. Mcfadden is gonna be great, Ike needs to get out of his slump and with a new coach i think he will. Our safetys are gonna be amazing, Troy along with our rookie (now second year) Anthony Smith, who was crazy last year, he just has a nose for the ball and he hits like a freight train. Not to mention Ryan clark who played very solid last year. A new coach wont hurt to much though, and without cowher babying his favorite players everyone is gonna go into camp with something to prove.
Can you actually include something else in all your posts then just "go steelers" or "pats suck"bennifer...Anyways it wasnt that Cowher didnt care anymore but Ben Roethlisberger screwed you guys over this year with the bike accident...Most of the game you guys lost was because of Ben Roethlisberger(raiders, ravens, jaguars etc.)...Well your O-LINE did horrible with the Ravens also.

No your wrong, see it was cowher, cowher babied ben like he always has, there is no way he shouldve played against oakland or jacksonville but cowher let him walk all over him. It wasnt the accident as much as it was been being stubborn after the concussion and surgery. Our oline was dominate at times, and again it was gameplanning when it was good and when it sucked. Our entire gameplan agaisnt the ravens was pathetic, willie parker cannot block bart scott, and yet they tried over and over to do it, you could tell except for a few games...cowher just didnt care. But it wasnt as much bens fault as it was cowher letting him play hurt, because he is errible when hes hurt, he played great healthy and alot of games lost werent his fault at all....atlanta, denver, cincy..and we could have been in the playoffs if we beat the raiders.
Mabey its a good thing we didnt make the playoffs, ben needs a full offseason which hes never had and i hope tomlin just motivates the hell out of the team so we can be up and running again next year.
