The only problem i see with Carter is his size, he might be to small to play full time.

The good thing about the steelers and Dick Lebeaus defense is the make nobodys into stars.
Well, the thing about Bing and Ko is they weren't very fast, and Ko was said to be dumb to put it mildly. Cromartie has insane ability, but no real experience, so he's a big gamble at #19. Allen went #16 to Miami, and is expected to start at FS as a rookie. I bet if Allen fell there was a good chance we'd take him...a FS with that speed and coverage ability, as well as size would fit us perfectly. Bing went 101 (4th) to Oakland, and Ko went 105 (4th) to Buffalo. There were numerous mocks that had us taking them at #32 overall lol. Apparently the "experts" didn't know something all the teams did. Bing is one I really wanted, but wasn't too upset we passed on him early due to his speed, then we took Smith, who is just as slow lol (Smith supposedly slipped at the start of the 40 and really runs a 4.5 instead of a 4.7 or w/e he got at the combine according to Whisenhunt or one of those guys).

DURING the draft though, I was really hoping we'd trade up and grab Lawson before the 49ers could at 22. He would be such a stud as an OLB in Pittsburgh....his pass rush would put Porter to shame I think, cause he's so freakishly fast and at 6'5" 240 lbs he's good sized too.

Manny would have been a catch, i didnt think he'd go so early because "experts" were saying that he was only productive because of mario williams on the other side. But he played DE and came out as a LB and wouldve fit nicely in our defense. Im happy with Holmes though, hes not a bad guy and hes damn good and its good to have Ben with a young receiver...these two will put up numbers someday.

I wouldn't have been at all surprised to see Lawson go much earlier to be honest with you. Hell, the Bills too Whitner at #8, that's 20 spots higher than expected at least I think. With so many teams switching to the 3-4, those tweener LBs like Lawson will go higher and higher, and everyone new to that system is lacking the stud OLBs like he could be. I could've seen him going #12 to Baltimore or Cleveland easier than I would've guessed that Whitner would go #8.

As far as Holmes goes, if he produces big time, he'll be a good pick. I see him being a bit like Marvin Harrison in style and abilities. If he turns out to be like that, and not a thug P.O.S. off the field, I'll be VERY happy with the pick. I've never been a Ward fan since his holdout, and all the badmouthing of the coaches/management, plus he's not a threat to keep the D on their toes to help out the run, so I'm hoping Holmes can replace him soon and provide a deep threat and a guy the D has to game plan against. I like Ward's effort and toughness, but he just seems arrogant or cocky and like he doesn't appreciate the Steelers much to me. (I know you won't agree, but that's just my personal opinion on him)

No Holmes isnt a bad guy, he only got into a fight with his girlfriend, who didnt press charges, and the disorderly conduct was dropped the other day. I think he'll be alright the steelers gave him a clean slate and a big contract. At least hes not like chris henry and getting teenage girls drunk and getting arrested for drugs...he'll be fine and hes a good guy for ben to have and i see the marvin harrison comparison, but his legal problems were blown way out of porportion. I think Willie Reid was a good pick, hes similar to randel el and will fill his spot nicely.(i was kinda hoping for Michael Robinson to fill his void, but reid is a good return man).

I never heard a steelers fan not liking ward, but i respect that. In his defense though he deserved that contract and the short "holdout" wasnt that bad. But i think hes underappreciated and one of the more "complete" WR in the NFL.

You've never got a teenage girl drunk before? lol I guess I was a pretty big drinker in college, and drank some in high school, so I've definitely been there, done that. I just hope that Holmes will be ok. If he was indeed slapping around his gf, he's a piece of crap in my book. Just because she dropped charges, doesn't mean it didn't happen though. I'm not saying he is guilty, but he's not necessarily innocent either. I think that Willie Reid will be a GREAT addition to the team. He's got speed, athleticism, and an OUTSTANDING attitude. I'll see if I can find it, but there's an article from when he was at Florida State, talking about how he always did what was best for the team, switching positions (WR, RB, PR), broke Deion Sanders' punt return yardage record, etc. I was hoping for Reggie McNeal. He has much better speed than Robinson, and more agile too. Robinson sounds like a good guy too, but wasn't my choice.

As far as Ward goes, I hate holdouts with a passion. They're already making a million a year, and they have to have more...it's ridiculous. There was stuff in the papers about him saying "after the way they treated me, I have nothing to say to them". I paraphrased, but they never did anything to him, and he's bashing them in the media. I just lost my respect for him over the combination of those things. His laughing at the competition comes across to me as arrogant as well. I still cheer for him when he makes a big play for the black and gold, but it's more cause it benefits the team than it is cause I like seeing him make plays.

I was more saying that its an embarrasment for a professional athlete to get get a bunch of 16 year old girls wasted, im 17 im all about going to parties, but im not in the NFL with alot going for me and millions of people watching my every move.

Im pretty sure Holmes arrest was for a domestic disturbance which would lead me to believe there was yelling and a neighbor called the cops (or something like that) I dont think it was a domestic abuse charge.

I wanted robinson cause im goin to penn state next year and he was a very athletic QB switching to a WR/RB...i saw potential, i think the 49ers picked him up in the 4th.

Ah well I guess I can see your point there. I dated a 16 year old when I was 20/21, but I think I only drank with her once or twice. I'm 28 now btw, I date girls roughly between 18 and 26 now. Mostly mid 20s.....no desire for those young ones anymore lol. I know from experience however, that those young girls usually look the best, and they tend to throw themselves at college age guys who have that athletic/muscular physique, and it's hard to resist.

As for Holmes charges, it was Domestive Violence, she made a statement to the cops saying he choked her, threw her on the floor, and slammed her into a door. She has since recanted, saying she wants charges dropped, which could result from numerous things. Sometimes women drop the charges (if it happened) because they're afraid the guy will really let loose on them, could be afraid that if their baby daddy gets arrest that he will lose money and they'll lose their child support, or they could love the guy and not want something to happen to him. Women also make stuff up to "get even" with the guy just because she's mad at him. My uncle's wife used to do that to him. She'd call the cops and then proceed to rough herself up to make it appear like he had been slapping her around. Finally after it happened a few times, their kids told the cops the truth and then she quit doing it.

Yeah, the 49ers picked him up and I heard something about RB for him. I haven't paid any attention since the draft, but that was the word then.

Now i really like ike, hes a good of a corner as they come, shuts down some of the best, but the guy definetly got problem with catching the ball, of course the WRs dont get alot on him. He has to take advantage of picks thrown to him. His second one today was a catch. I hate when they overturn catches like that, even the other teams. When they replay like that and the ball is "moving" its ridiculous. in HS and College that is called a diving catch. That take part of the fun out of it, getting technical like that. I saw it again in tonites cardinal game. looked like a catch, just because he falls on it doesnt mean its incomplete, when his hand is under it and he has possesion on the air it is a catch. Sorry it just depresses me.

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers announced today that cornerback Ike Taylor has signed a five-year contract that will keep him with the team through the 2010 season. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Taylor, a four-year veteran, led the NFL with 25 defensed passes in 2005 and finished fifth on the Steelers with 96 tackles (72 solo), while also recording one interception and a forced fumble. Two of his biggest plays in 2005 season came when he recorded key interceptions in both the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XL.

Originally drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft, Taylor (6-1, 191) became a full-time starter in 2005 and regularly drew the assignment of covering the opponent's top receiver. Taylor had several of his strongest performances in the 2005 postseason, recording 20 tackles (17 solo), two interceptions and five defensed passes in four games.

Im so happy, now they got Taylor and Parker both locked up, which is the only two players they wanted to sign before the season.
