Default I hope Big Ben watches Aikman's speech for the HOF

Aikman said something along the lines of the system he played in didn't allow him to have great stats, and that was JUST FINE, cause it allowed him to win 3 championships and be on great football teams....I hope that Ben sees that and thinks about it and agrees winning is better than stats. I've been wondering if he's going to be content to be a run-first team as we are, and I've heard numerous times that he is always asking to pass more (which is good, and I'd like to see it, but as long as we don't get away from our winning strategy). I think that Ben has the ability and is in the right system to have a career much like Aikman's. Good defense, good line, good running game, just direct the offense to MULITPLE championships!

If you read enough stuff on the Steelers, you'll see numerous references to Ben asking to throw more, and some QBs would get fed up with the minimal pass attempts they would get in the Steeler system. Basically I don't know if he's going to get fed up with it, but he's definitely good enough to be a QB that throws a lot and puts up prolific stats, and it's possible that he might get frustrated in this run first system. You know how some WRs are, they don't like playing in Pittsburgh because they don't get enough passes thrown their way....Burress, Wilson, etc. They both complained, and Burress left as soon as he could, and Wilson was only there last year but was complaining about it mid to late-season. My point was just that it's a good situation, Ben is stellar when he passes (ratings near 100 in each of his first 2 seasons, and still would've had about 3000 yards and 20 TDs in each season had he not gotten hurt) and I hope that they expand his role some, but stay committed to the run. The run opens up the pass, and also lets the high pressure D get rested so they can keep applying the pressure. Aikman was in a similar situation, and he appreciated it for what it was...a winning situation...and I just hope that Ben will too. (That answer your question?)

Cowher would never get away from his system, but Ken Whisenhunt will open up the playbook for him a little more. Wilson started to complain, but he wasnt getting any touches at all, now bens more comfortable with him and wilson relized what he signed up for. Burress is just a d***, he is in NY and hes getting 10-15 catches a game.

Finally someone sees that ben could put up Super Peyton numbers, he passed on every play in college and wasnt a first round pick for his ability to hand the ball off.

I think that people have seen that Ben is a heck of a QB if they watch him very much. Those idiots who get their opinion of him from the stats column or the retarded sportswriters who have the very pro-Patriots or pro-Colts bias, are the ones who think he's nothing more than a guy who hands the ball off and a product of the system.

It may not be up to Cowher, I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone after this season. Definitely not getting a good feeling from the stuff I've read about him coming back. House in NC, wife and kids down there, no progress in the extension talks, Whisenhunt staying on instead of taking another HC job (I think he stuck around to replace him in the near future as HC of the Steelers)

I may be a retard, but I don`t think Ben is as good a passer as Peyton or Troy was. He`s a winner, and I respect him, but don`t get carried away. As far as college is concerned, Ken Dorsy was a great QB and played against better competition. How did he do in the NFL?

I thought the same thing since Ken could have cashed in big time with a HC job, but if he were to stay as HC that would be a great transition because the whole staff would stay.

Cowher is 49 and if he retires he will probally relize that his life is football and he might return to the steelers like Chuck Noll did and still is, or as much as it hurts to say he could cash in on a team desperate to have a proven coach.

If he wants to watch his girls play college Basketball good for him, but he'll be back somewhere and ken runs the offense very well with a young QB and a defensive genius with dick lebeau. Ken would make a great HC.

I never said he was, but it's also not fair to compare a guy who's played 2 years to guys that have played 10 years or w/e either. It is, however, accurate to say he's on the same path that Aikman was early in his career. He started in a much better situation obviously, but he's already making big plays and not messing up often, and playing in big games....and in this year's playoffs, he played GREAT in 3 of the 4 playoff games. Only reason he didn't put up bigger #s was that the coach switched to the pound the ball, grind the clock offense after Ben got them the lead in the 1st half by passing.

I do think that in a year or 2 though, he'll be every bit as good as Aikman was, and better than Manning. The guy I envision him being the most like eventually is Elway when he won the SBs...meaning the older Elway who could make plays, was smart, but didn't have to do it all on his own anymore. (I personally think that Manning sucks because he is a stats-only QB, who is great in the regular season, but sucks in the playoffs, and can't handle the pressure a 3-4 is able to put on him. I don't care how good you are in the reg season, if you self destruct in big games as he does year after year)

he's not a great passer, that's why he should want to stick to the system

oh yeah i did hear some ben complaints in the playoffs, btw do coaches ever listen to their players?

I too think he'd be back soon if he did indeed leave the Steelers. He most likely wouldn't be able to come back to the Steelers, unless we tanked after he left and they'd let him come back for that. He would most likely go to some team like the Redskins or something though.
