It's not easy to replace a runner called The Bus.

Steelers coach Bill Cowher said it might take a couple of running backs to fill Jerome Bettis' former role.

Bettis pounded the ball inside in short-yardage and goal-line situations and scored nine touchdowns in 110 carries during the Steelers' Super Bowl run last season.

"I can't say right now there's been one person, like we had with Jerome," Cowher said Wednesday at Steelers training camp at St. Vincent College. "I don't think that's a bad thing. That's the way it was last year. This year is a different year, and we'll go from there."

Running back Willie Parker will get first crack at goal-line duty when the Steelers (0-2) play the Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) in a preseason game Friday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

Cowher said Parker will play the first quarter with the starters -- and this time he won't run off the field in most short-yardage situations.

I don't think Willie Parker will be able to pound the ball. He is good in the open field but I'm not sure he will be able to pound the ball in on goalline situations.

Parker is actually a beast for how fast he is, he has alot of muscle on him and can run inside pretty well, as well as leap over the line.

Hahahaha. Don't remind me. We really need our safety's to stay healthy this year. Otherwise that happens. Oh, I'm not taking away credit from Willie.

Jerome was only good in short yardage situations. Shoot Deuce Staley did most of the work. It was like what Shannon Sharpe said on CBS Deuce buys the candy and roses, spends the money, tries so hard to impress the girl, but Jerome steals the good-night kiss. Not saying he will be easy to replace, but I am saying some of the other guys should get credit as well for that tremendous season. I.E. Willie Parker and Deuce Staley

Duce Staley does most of the work? Mustve missed all those seasons. Do you wanna know who has always done most of the work....FB Dan Kreider was the reason the bus was so good. Duce has been a bum for two years and has been worthless this season....i dont know why you seem to think Duce "buys the flowers"
