Default Steelers sign Davenport

I kind thought this might happen

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/featur...s/expert/picks

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers added size and experience to their backfield today when they signed veteran running back Najeh Davenport to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Davenport (6-1, 247), a fifth-year veteran from the University of Miami, spent his first four NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers. In 39 games, Davenport has rushed for 1,068 yards and seven touchdowns on 217 carries (4.9 avg.). He also has caught 17 passes for 107 yards (6.3 avg.).

Originally drafted by the Packers in the fourth round (135th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft, Davenport missed most of the 2005 season after breaking his ankle on Oct. 9 against New Orleans. The 27-year-old Davenport, whose first name is pronounced "NAH-jay", set a personal best with 178 rushing yards on Nov. 29, 2004, against the St. Louis Rams.

The Steelers made room on their roster for Davenport by releasing rookie running back Patrick Cobbs, who the team claimed off of waivers from the New England Patriots on Sept. 1.

this will diminish parker's value in fantasy slightly, while I still think that he will get the lionshare of the GL carries, davenpoop should see some as a FB. He was originally a FB in GB and will play that role in PITT as well, I really wanted the EAGLES to take a shot at getting him.

It's good to have a big body for grinding out the game so my boy Fast Willie is fresh when we whup it up on some poor NFC chump in the SB again. Aside from that, not a whole lot good about it. Maybe just maybe he'll turn out to be a great fit for us and be better than he has been so far in his career. I find it funny though that the Packers picked up our cast off last year (Herron) and we pick up their's this year.

That's a very good fit. Davenport is the only suitable replacement for Bettis IMO.

I think its a fit, but i think they shouldve kept cobbs and released Duce. Duce isnt even gonna be active on game day, hes making more money than haynes and haynes is 2nd string, release the bum and keep cobbs inactive.

Ive always liked Davenport, actually ive always likes green and gado too.

Same here. I'll miss Davenport, I always thought we should have moved him to FB to replace Henderson if anything. Green and Gado are awesome, but there are very few true power runners these days, and neither fit that role. What do you expect for a team that signs KR the KR though.. I look forward to the firing of this new coaching staff.
