Steelers host Bannister, Womack
Thursday, March 8, 2007
The Steelers hosted two unrestricted free agents at their practice facility on the South Side on Thursday.
Wide receiver Alex Bannister and offensive lineman Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack both visited with coaches and team personnel during the day.
Bannister, who is 6-5, 207 pounds, was originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001 in the fifth round out of Eastern Kentucky. He made an impact on their special teams and was named to the Pro Bowl for those efforts in 2003.
Bannister was waived by the Seahawks in June, 2006, and signed with the Chicago Bears a few weeks later. He was waived by the Bears prior to the start of the season. He was then signed by the Baltimore Ravens on December 19.
Womack, 6-4, 330-pounds, was drafted by Seattle in the fourth round in 2001. He has played with the Seahawks for his entire six-year career and started nine games at guard in 2006. He is a versatile player who has played every position except center for the Seahawks.
Bleh on both counts.
Gardocki at least will be gone.He had one good year with us and last year was a complete disaster.
