Nixon, Why do you think we have good depth at LB? Im not saying Wallace or Frazier are bad becuase I have not seen enough of either to know. HAve you seen something that makes them a decent prospect?

Wallace hasn't really had many chances to get out on the field so far here in Pitt. But he was a very good player at Temple. I remember before the draft he was graded as a 2/3rd round guy in most places, the highest I saw him was late first by DJ Boyer. I think Frazier has distinguished himself on STs, he actually played pretty well in preseason and limited action, he seems to be a guy who didn't get a lot of pub because he was 1) a tweener, 2) from a small school, 3) doesn't time well on the 40 but watching him on ST coverage the football speed looks like its there and from what I remember he's also pretty good off the snap. He might not be ready to go as a starter next year but he's definitely a better prospect for OLB development than Nate Adibi or Zo Jackson.

Thanks for the thoughts, and I certainly hope that he is a better prospect than Adibi or Jackson, because I am a better prospect than them.... and that aint sayin much..

Dump Hartings, lose EL, renegotiate Porter, resign KVO at a cut, dump Simmons . . .
Draft an ILB, a RB, DE, and WR . . . . . .
But most of all, give Gardocki a huge, 10-year extension.

With Farrior being 31 and Foote being, well........Foote, I can see us taking an ILB early if the right one is there.
Porter and Hagans are both soon to be 29 so an OLB at some point might not be out of the question. Depends on who falls to us.

I like D'Qwell Jackson or the C Mangold in the first. I don't know that cutting Simmons is the right move, he really finished the season strong and with Faneca and Hartings getting up there (Hartings more so) we're going to need all the bodies at IOL we can muster. I'd rather we keep Hartings at a reduced salary than Okobi and keep him as a back up or even let him play another season as we bring Mangold/other draft pick into the fray.

They aren't going to cut Simmons. He played pretty well after Cowher threatened to bench him and ran Kemo with the first team in practice. Hartings isn't going anywhere either unless he refuses the pay cut. I see us cutting Okobi (I beleive he's due about $2 mil) and taking a C first day or at the latest the 4th. I seriously doubt we take one round 1. With Simmons, Fanaca and Kemo will prolly will not take aG at all unless someone falls who we can't pass up.
I still think Essex, if given a fair chance, can beat out Starks next TC.
I guess we could ask Okobi to take a pay cut too.

I don't think I'm interested in Okobi, even at a reduced price. what's with all the funky named OLinemen stinking it up? Nkwenti, Okobi.. Regardless of where, I do think we need to look at picking up an Olineman in day 1. With the comp picks we have coming to us in the 3rd and 4th (hopefully at least a 3rd.) ... I'd really like to see us trade out of round 1 all together and just stop up on those solid 2nd & 3rd rounders. Pick ourselves up a S, WR, C/OG and LB in day 1, if there's anything left over look for a RB prospect and then spend day 2 looking for diamond in the rough kind of prospects and a back up QB like Brodie Croyle, etc.

My guess is we'll whack Okobi and get us a center prospect in the 2nd or 3rd.
I Hope isn't re-signed we'll need a FS from somewhere. DRaft or FA. I'm not sold on Carter just stepping in.
I still think we need another RB of some kind. I just don't trust Duce to stay healthy.
