i know we still got the big one coming up next week. but i know yall are all waiting to see what happens this offseason. last year our biggest pickup was Ceddy and we all know how he turned out, definitely starting to become a good investment.
we got a good bit of FA's(verron, randle el, etc). what do you think will happen with them and what do you think we should do.
as far as my opinion, i say re-sign randle el(or let him go, im honestly not attached to him but i realize his worth to this team). Let Bussy go(he's my favorite but its time). get staley's health straight so him and willie can either fight it out for the starting job next year or we just have a killer 1-2 punch.(no pun intended on punch cuz we all know what a punch did to staley)
cut maddox, keep batch.
i would say get a bigger receiver, but thats only if Randle El leaves and depending on what we want Quincy Morgan to do next year. i would like a bigger name, but if the end result is another super bowl i dont care if we sign Albert Connel.
we gotta get Kimos' understudy ready, as well as Desheas(i dont think coclough is ready, but i honestly hope he's not the bust that i already think he is, he's still young though, mcfadden has potential.).
i'll let you all add on.

Ditch maddox keep batch.
Doubt Bettis will continue after we win the bowl!! KEEP POSITIVE!!!
Not sure if staley is capible of staying health to be worth his weight. Wasn't he always hurt in philly too?

Batch played in 2 games. After the Tommy debacles (Jacksonville and Baltiwhore), Batch started against Green Bay. He didn't jack, but he didn't lose us the game. I think it was the gameplan.
Then came Cleveland. In that game, he was allowed to pass, and did ok. Then, of course, he injured his hand. When it happened he stayed in, and skillfully finished the drive, included snapping it quick and calling his own number to sneak it, right before the 1st half ended. With what he showed in the Cleveland game, aside from his injury, Steeler fans will take him, especially compared to Batch.
Because of Cowher's insistence upon keeping too many vet QBs, we lost our development QB in BSP to the Felons. However, given Cowher's position about having the veteran backup, it was the wise move for BSP, because he knew he wouldn't be doing any better than 3rd string on our roster, with Ben here.
Back to the subject:
Let El go, some team will give him more money than we need to given other issues.
Bettis should retire. Duce will be kept. According to the roster on Steelers.com, Duce is not on IR.
Hartings should retire, or take a cut to stay.
Maddox gone. So we need another #3 QB.
Willie Williams, gone, we don't need him for depth.
KVH. Sign for 1 year cheap, but Keisel is in the wings as is Hoke. Not sure about Kirschke. Draft another DE/DT
Hope, gone, move someone else and draft a FS. Although he has actually broken up 2 passes in the playoffs and end of the season games. Deshea? His cover skills would exceed Hope's. Can Tyrone Carter cover anyone? Stuvaints isn't good enough to keep.
LB keep ours, develop Frazier and draft.
WR, draft again
Center, draft since the concensus is Chukky won't cut it.
OL, draft depth, let Kemoeatu fight for starting with Simmons.
RB, draft, since we lost Noah Herron

Cowher was driving very conservatively, and it was easy to predict how he was planning on getting to the stadium.
It seemed as if he was driving not to crash and relying on his tires to pound their way down the asphalt about 3 yards at a time.

I think it was the gameplan.

Game plan or not, it wasnt the gameplan that made him unable to hit water falling out of a boat! He played BAD in that game, but really came back the next week before getting hurt.
Depending on how much it will cost, I would like to see them keep ARE. Regardless of what some people stay on here, he is a good return man and an avg. WR that demands more attention than many WR's because of his athletic ability. I tend to think that he will be offered a godly amount from some team (like Howard was after the GB Super Bowl).

QB - Ben, Batch.
Release that worthless **** Maddox, i'm sure he still believes he can play.
RB - Willie, Verron, Duce
If we can sign Verron on the cheap (which I think we can), he needs to be kept. Duce? Not so much; however, we wouldn't save much from the salary cap.
FB - Kreider is an All Pro.
WR - Ward, Wilson, Morgan
Antwaan Randle-El is pretty much ****, I can't see us throwing him anything over 1.5 million a year. Sadly, I see El taking a paycut to stay here. Lets hope some ****ty team really wooooos him. A position of need in the Draft.
TE - Heath Miller
We're set at TE for the next 8-10 years, Tuman is a FA and isn't needed. We'll probably end up with Matt Cushing or some other scrub. Marco Battaglia? Heh.
Tackle - Marvel Smith, Max Starks, Trai Essex
Marvel will have a 5.7 million dollar cap hit next year, his play doesn't warrant that much money. He'll still be here. Starks has played well, and is about 9 times cheaper. Essex wasn't that bad as a rookie. Barret Brooks sucks ****.
Guard - Alan Faneca, Kendall Simmons, Chris Kemoeatu
Fanaca will cost 5 million against the cap, well deserving. Simmons is pretty damn cheap, 1.3 million (1.5 in 07) and his cheap salary is why he's sitll here. From talking to Kemo Dragon, he should start by next year.
Center - Jeff Hartings, Chukky Okobi
Hartings isn't worth 5 million and if he wants to remain on this team must take a severe paycut or retire. Okobi is garbage (he makes more money than the rightside of our line together). I'd love for us to draft a Center, or possibly look at a LeCharles Bentley in FA if Hartings does retire.
Defensive Tackle - Casey Hampton, Chris Hoke
Hampton is a stud, and will anchor our line for the next 5-7 years. Hoke, a very solid player. We'll draft that sacraficial Nose Tackle in the 7th rounder out of BYU.
Defensive End - Aaron Smith, Kimo, Brett Keisel
Smith is great. Kimo, you could argue has picked up his game as he ages. I can't see Kimo retiring, he'll be back. Keisel is also very good, and will be back. Travis Kirschke is pathetic, and makes way too much money to be on our roster.
Outside Linebacker - Joey Porter, Clark Haggans, Andre Frazier, James Harrison
I said midseason that Porter could be released, not anymore. He's been amazing in our run and is deserving of his money. Clark Haggans? Not so much. Paycut hopefully. Frazier is alright. Harrison is good.
Inside Linebacker - Larry Foote, James Farrior, Rian Wallace
Farrior had a bad year, but has showed up in the Playoffs. Foote is decent. Like to see Wallace push Foote next year.
Cornerback - Ike Taylor, Bryant McFadden, Ricardo Colclough
Man, who can forget the days of Charred Scott and Depayne Washington? Taylor has been very good, McFadden will be better. Colclough has disapointed me. Townsend probably will come back.
Safety - Troy Polamalu, Tyrone Carter
Troy, if we win could be seing a massive contract extension come his way. Chris Hope is garbage, and shouldn't be back. Tyrone Carter can play, and right now I would pencil in as our starter next year (believe me, I was shocked with his play to). I see a lot of Lee Flowers in him, which is that good i'm not sure.
We need depth at every position pretty much, other than NT or even DE.
As for the Draft..
A QB taken in the 3rd-4th round would make sense (Brodie Croyle, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Whitehurst)
A RB if someone doesn't come back (LenDale White (won't happen), Gerald Riggs, Lawrence Vickers (Verron clone),
A WR mid round pick (Maurice Stovall, Martin Nance, Travis Wilson)
A pass rushing LB in the 1st two rounds (Manny Lawson, Thomas Howard, Ernie Sims)

The only way Duce Staley is on this team next season is if he takes a significant pay cut. By the way, I give my hearfelt condolences to Duce and his family for losing his dad on Saturday.
Randel El may very well be playing his last game in a Steeler's uniform.
Maddox destroyed any hope he had of finishing out his contract after ****ing up so badly in relief of Ben and Charlie.
Kimo is thirty-five years old and Brett Keisel is breathing down his neck.

Maddox is already gone, but Batch is never going to stay healthy, just like in Detroit.
We need to look for a decent backup.
