Steelers @ Colts
when Bettis fumbled on the one yard line i thought for sure the game was over and it should have been. i still don't for the life of me know why on second and two with two time outs left the Colts didn't try and just pick up the first down. they had plenty of time to try and advance the ball to make it an easier kick for Vanderjact or try an easier play to the end zone for the win. the colts should have at least tied it, but i don't really care because i wanted the Steelers to beat them anyways

That was a beautiful game. Credit Roethlisberger for being able to play defense as well. His right arm won them that game, and not just with passing. There were a number of plays in the game I didn't like however.. The Palamolu interception should have been exactly that, but it was overturned, and the last time I checked, tackling a QB with the ball in his own endzone is called a safety. Guess these rules don't apply to Peyton though. I've seen a lot of favoritism in ref calls all season in fact. Most of them seemed to favor the Dolphins, Colts, Redskins and Giants. I think the NFL really needs to watch their officials more closely.

There are bad calls in every game, but I think a lot of it is what the announcers point out to the fans, and the fact that it is the playoffs, so everything is emphasized. Clearly, some of the calls in this game were not just bad, but awful, but in the end players determine the outcomes of games, not the officials. You have to just deal with bad calls, as they are going to happen. Then there is the question of replay, and how it should be used, but that is a whole separate issue, that I don't feel like ranting about right now

I agree with jeter. bad calls will happen. Like palomalu, dont let it get to you. he went out a played like it never happened. and yes thank god Big Ben played defense on that. There was a guy in a sports bar in Pittsburgh that had a heart attack when Bettis fumbled. If it were not for the two firemen there, he would have died. Wierd what the playoffs do to you.

Wow this thread is weird. At first I didn't see the date on the first post and I was like "why the hell would someone post about that game right now???". Then I realized that it was posted a long time ago and all was well. But then BAM!!! Something about a blind squrrell. What a crazy thread.

See K Train there's that conscience again.
Not talking about you at all. It's just a favorite saying of mine that means anybody or any team in this case can get lucky. That's all..........

I would hardly call that game beautiful, but I agree with most of the rest. That game was absolutely horrible, due to the horrible officiating towards the end. It should've been a 17 point win, minimum, for the Steelers. The Polamalu INT alone was a 7-14 point swing. There does seem to be favoritism in calls sometimes too, or just completely incompetent officiating. Colts for sure get a lot of the plays in their favor. At least the refs gave the Steelers the "benefit of the call" in the SB....I don't think the calls were bad (with one exception), but anything questionable did go in their favor at least....kinda makes up for them screwing them in the AFCC all game long.
