Default What's Missing with the Steelers?

This is so not typical of this great Team. I don't feel they are missing The Bus so much that they can't preform without him. Did Ben's accident hurt him more than people are realizing? Things are so not clicking on that Team right now and I can't figure it out. I think they should sit Ben down for a few games and see what happens from there. Charley Batch is not bad and had some good success with the Lions. I don't think he would do much worse than what Ben is showing the Team right now. I'm not saying pull a Bledsoe on Ben but at least give him a little time out until he gets his head together. Maybe they need to do another scan of his head because that last concusion he surfered couldn't have helped his situation after his motorcycle accident.

Inconsistency on offense and defense. I've told these guys Ben isn't that great. Last year things just fell in place for them and he got all the credit. Mostly from the media.
Their D was better too, more consistant that is. It makes the difference of winning a few close games that can make a team 5-2 and have respect or 2-5 and look like ship.

I still can't get over the Colts Game which sealed the deal for them. What a Roller Coaster ride that was. So many opportunities for the Colts to win the game and yet the Stars were not with them that evening. The Bus fumble probably was the funniest of all. They didn't have to run it in and could have simply kicked a field goal for the win but they were feeling so cocky about the game and then whomever it was that picked the fumble up and had prety much a wide open field to run it back with couldn't get around slow clunky Ben how feel down and grabbed his ankle. It was hilarious. And the missed Field Goal from Vanderjact who seems to be missing a lot of FGs these days. There really something weird going on with him because for a guy who was considered the best in the business, he's been mostly off since that game last year. Even his first atempt last Sunday night to put the Cowboys up by 3, he hits the post. This guy is a couple of kicks away from being released imo.

Gary bracket knock the ball out, nick harper was tackled by ben, vanderjagt in that moment became my favorite kicker of all time. I will always remember that game, the steelers dominated in every aspect and then troy was screwed and everything changed but we still found a way...thats what were missing...the ability to always find a way.

I hear ya and now we have your greatest kicker of all times and what a job he's done for us. Missed important kicks in every game we've had so far. I think the Team is beginning to hate this guy. Usually hit or miss, members of the Team would go over and pat the Kicker on the Helmet in either a congrats or supportive jesture. Lately, you see him just walking away with no one approaching him in any manner. Yes, Pittsburg does find a way and most likely you'll find a way to turn this mess around. This is way too embarrasing for the reigning Super Bowl Champs to start a Season. I'm not certain but I'd wager no reigning SB Champs have ever had this bad of a start in NFL history.

My friend BU - seems to believe Roethlisberger isn't that great of a QB and is basically benefitting from all around great Team. I've never looked at it that way but now that he mentions it, I wonder how accurate he might be.
Obviously you can't look at his numbers from this season but last season how did he rank amongst the league? I seriously think he suffered more from his accident then people are willing to see.

Overall your RB is ranked #11 (top 50%) in the league which isn't too bad and your QB is ranked #18 (bottom 50%). Interceptions is what's killing him, which he's tied for 1st place. Hilarious that my Dallas Buddies considered Bledsoe as our best chance when he was actually ranked #24th out of 30 in the league with only 90 Completions out of 169 attempts. I don't call that giving us a good chance at getting anywhere. And you haven't put Hines Ward to work much at all so far this season leaving him ranked at #22 (bottom 50%).

But the brighter picture for you is your Defense, which is #6 in the league dispite all the woes of your Offense. So Teams aren't putting up a lotta points against Pitts and when Defense is doing their job, they are giving you a real good shot at just making a few key plays here or there that could turn things around real fast.

What do you think about benching Ben for a few games and allowing Charley to take over?

I'd say that Ben's woes this year are about 99.9999% due to injury. Look at his QB rating and efficiency in his first 2 seasons....both over 98. Last year his rating was 3rd in the entire NFL, and his stats would've been up there....definitely pro-bowl #s, had he played in all the games. He lost 20 lbs this offseason, so even if some of it was fat, you know he lost a lot of muscle. I've been laid up with injuries where I lost 10-15 lbs of muscle and it affects your speed, agility, balance, confidence, everything....plus he had a head injury so it's possible that his reflexes/reactions might've been affected. That last part is of course pure speculation. BU54 saying that Ben is a result of the system is a joke, or more accuractly put, absolutely absurd. If he was, we'd have won the SB many times in the Cowher era. We just never had a QB worth a crap to go along with the run game and defense. Ben also did all of that with crap for WRs compared to the other top QBs. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson and Whosyourmama, Deion Branch and and and well Brady doesn't have the best WRs either lol.

The most impressive stat by Ben throughout his career was yards per attempt....don't know the # offhand, but it was very high and the highest in the league last year, and was up there as a rookie as well. He is of course helped by being on a good team, but it's not like he's surrounded by stars, and does nothing that everyone else could do. I attribute this season to injuries to Ben, poor WR play, along with sub-par O Line play. Oh, forgot coaching stupidity in playing Big Ben right after all those injuries. I think that the Chiefs' game is when he should've got his first action of the season, and after the concussion in ATL shouldn't have played last week. This week I'm on the fence about, but he'll most likely play, and probably should.
